So I’ve just spent 50 minutes doing the music rally and it’s still only 2/3rds through the download. Not a great first impression. :(

Do I have to leave the game running for this to download or will it do it overnight in rest mode?

Quit the game and it will download faster.

It took 5 hours for it to download on my PS4... That's without me playing anything.

I got to National A-9 license last night, immediately posted a time that was around 0.4 off a gold and thought "why is everyone moaning this one's hard?" Then failed to best my own time for the next 25 minutes.

I love that circuit and I love that car so I'll be back on that today.

Must. Get. That. Gold.

Spent most of the day Tuesday on this with the pad and was loving it, new pedals coming today and am excited to get back in the game with the wheel.

Been a long while since I've felt this way about a racing game.

Unfortunately not. It does work with a drive hub and a wired 3rd party controller but with some force feedback errors.

It DOES work on a PS5 with the PS4 version of GT7 which I appreciate isn't much use to you.

I think my copy of GT7 is broken.  The American muscle cars around the ovals are great fun!

I'm really struggling with snap oversteer in the '69 Corvette. I've upgraded it with lots of racing parts and Racing Soft tyres, but it still seems to get to a certain area in the rev range and then the rear wheels just break loose very viciously. I've tried holding a higher gear than normal and that helps up to a point, as does just being as fine as I can with the throttle inputs, but it's still no picnic.

Hmm, I've ran that Corvette in a few races (all the US Muscle Car events early on in the cafe menus) and not had that issue, I did upgrade it but only using the parts on the first page of upgrades

That Mustang muscle car thing was bobbins. Nigh on impossible to get third place in the old junk I had in my garage until you whack a set of softs on. Got the fast modern mustang, did the same and wiped the floor with them. Comical snap oversteer into concrete when it goes horribly wrong.

I went off so far at Willow Spings I had no idea where the track was.

That's the one. I know where I'm going wrong, not using enough kerb, and then either being too patient on the throttle or not patient enough.

Yeah, I wound up whacking on the oversteer correction when I was doing the Yank landboat book. Just too easy to make them spin. I had it turned off to start with because I like making the cars slide around usually.

ooh  ooh! I turned it off for A9!

and then back on for the rest of the game…

I was struggling with my tuned '09 911 GT3 oversteering, well, pretty much any time you turned the wheel (power on, and lift off predominantly).

I fitted adjustable suspension (the sports one I think, not the fully racing one, might be called height adjustable) and brought the nose up a little, making the car level / no rake.

It made it nice and stable and pretty fun to drive too :)

I did say we need to sticky this.

Take your PS offline, 45 mins install from disc versus a billion years downloading it. You will still have to download a 10Gb update. But it’s better than 101Gb at a snails pace.

Just did a race at the Nurburgring. Now, I fully admit that taking a Group 3 car out on the track with Intermediates to get it around the 700pp limit wasn't really in the spirit of the rules, but it paid off big time when it rained midway around the lap and everyone else's cars turned into boats.

Lovely stuff

I've avoided this game ... I take it it's a bit good?

Yeah. I'd go with that. Get pissed off with cafe menu? go do some licence tests, bored of that, mod your car or go online. Haptics are insanely good.
