EDIT: As for your credits, in terms of the cars we use most often for our races I'd highly suggest:

  • Any Group 3 car. They're usually 450,000 a piece, unless you go slightly exotic and grab something like the Castrol Supra from the Legends Dealer. My suggestions are getting the AMG Mercedes or the Porsche 911RSR but there's about 40 of the things so you'll have plenty of choice!
  • The Mazda Roadster Touring Car for 90,000
  • The Radical SR3 for 123,500
  • A Group 4 car. You can get yourself a very good one of these by completing all of the Moby Dick missions to Bronze level (The Toyota 86). Gr4 cars cost 350,000 a piece otherwise, and once again you'll be spoilt for choice! Alongside the Toyota, I highly recommend the Nissan GT-R Gr4.

Most importantly, any questions then just yell!

@GwiDan read this.

Yeah I tried it but it's mushy af and almost feels notchy. Been tweaking from there but I thought I was finished with the bloody tweaking. :quote:

jeez. what the hell are they doing

I was thinking about the weird acquisition of Bungie by Sony cos they worded the reasoning to be about getting the expertise of running a live service game as a big plus. At the time I thought 'pfft whatever' but what I wouldn't give for PD to take a few leaves out of Bungies' book in terms of communication and patches.

So I noticed we went from 1.13 to 1.15. Apparently this is due to 1.14 containing a FFB bug that could cause some wheels to shake or kick so violently it was an injury risk, so they've temporarily muted FFB for some wheels whilst they work to fix it.

That looks brilliant! I didn't even know about the livery editor until a couple of days ago and now I can't stop thinking of liveries I want to make but almost certainly don't have the patience/artistry to do so :D

Anyone up for some casual friday night racing? Will be on from about 9pm till late. Should have a grid of 3 lined up already. Would love a few more.

I'll see what I can do - was good fun last time 👍

Do you have a voice party going usually?  Useful nowadays with the lobbies the way they are (though tbh I managed last time by just assuming there'd be another lobby along in a minute and waiting for a lobby with friends to show up).

It's both easier and harder than it looks in some ways.

The Base pattern on that is nearly all just one decal, stretched and angled over the whole car, then tweaked with little blue squares to fill in gaps.

The logos are either stuff in the game by default (Champiuon & Bilstein Logos), Logos uploaded by other uisers (Philips, Michelin, Ferodo) and the words in German I made and uploaded myself by just finding a good font, Writing the word in a free spftware tool called inkscape, saving, and uploading to the GT site. You couldn't do that last bit in forza so it would have taken hours.

There's so much already uploaded, you can turn out very high quality stuff very easily, and the way it deals with surfaces makes wrapping things round the car easy. The only major irritation is the bonnet being treated seperately to he rest of the car so you can;t just run a stripe over top of the car from front to back with a single decal.

Yeah we usually have a party setup. Ping me on PSN when you are on and we'll get you added.

Friday night I did Round 1 of the manufacturer’s World Series. So stressful- 4 laps of Nurburgring 24hr as night falls and a bit of rain thrown in. 30 minutes of fully focused concentration trying to keep it on the black stuff.

As much as a lot of this game disappoints, races like this are incredible and you just don’t get on other console racing games.

It's great fun! I almost enjoy painting cars as much as I do racing (and I'd argue I am slightly better at painting than I am driving too).

Absolutely. Not really done much of it in GT but lots in Forza. Then there is 'Scapes too... :)

Ooh, that looks lush! :D We should do some historic (cup) racing with this sometime soon...

Don’t think I’m likely to have a Gr3 by tomorrow.

Why don't you sign a manufacturer's contract in Sport Mode to get a free one then? ;)

Good call, I have quite a few of those menus left to go before I unlock sport mode though. Hopefully they don’t take too long.

Not too long.  Sport and Multiplayer are both unlocked by Café Menu 9, and remember you don't necessarily need to win every race (I know, sacrilege around here) as some of the menus just require that you get a podium in each race.  Check the menu for details.

If you have time you can then go and test drive a bunch of Gr3 and Gr4 cars in Sport mode, as loan cars are a thing now.  And then you can sign a contract for the Manufacturers Series to get your chosen Gr3 and Gr4 cars (from the same manufacturer, obv...)

@Quexex sorry I couldn't make Friday - always a bit hit and miss for me on non-Monday days I'm afraid.

I’m going to have about 2 hours to do all of this!

OK I'm still on for tonight... Forgive me if I behave like a bit of a numpty.... really not used the PS5 online that much (never mind Gran Turismo! :D). So essentially I'm in the Monday night racing club party... is this where you do all the comms/chat? Or do you set up separate chat parties?

Your in good company, game base, or whatever shambles they decided to change it too was entirely un-necessary and is a complete pile up to use imo.

I have at least ordered a load cell, might get to try it over the jubbly celebration, in fact I'd say Friday night is by royal appointment, it is your duty to turn up.

Sorry had to drop out of the racing tonight. I am a bit shattered at the moment and the endurance racing didn't come at the right time! :D (had some 4:30am starts over the past few days). Still I did give it a go and its good fun! Just need to:-

  • Get some more practice
  • Get some more sleep! :D

I'll pop along next Monday night too. See how I get on. On average how long are the sessions a couple of hours?

I had to bail too, ive got a DIY injury - massive blister on my hand so you can imagine that holding a wheel is not good, typical as I got the seat all setup on the rig and after some adjustment had the whole thing working so well but after not very long it was clear I couldn’t play for long :(

Bloody typical, ive got the wheel setup so well now and was smashing some times on the circuit experience but had to stop - hope you guys had fun!
