So, I can download a livery that essentially applies a small part of a tune to my car (wide body, aero parts, wheels etc).  I'd really like to just be able to go and grab a whole tune from the Discover section, rather than, you know, sitting and copying down a setup from Insert-Favourite-YouTuber here.  Yeah, it might permanently change your car, but so does applying a wide body livery.

 

In other news, now that I have a half decent setup* for my Mustang, I'm within a second of the gold time on this week's TT.  Friend of the forum e1978 has already beaten the gold time, the git.  

 

* Essentially, add the right engine mods to get exactly the right HP, stiffen the suspension nearly all the way, and loosen the LSD nearly all the way.  Oh and add all the downforce.  Then BB to the back slightly to get rid of some of the oil tanker tendancies. I'm using Mistah MCA's setup, but haven't bothered with the gear ratios as they're so fiddly to set.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Daily Race A is much, much easier if you start from pole - you lose so much time through the chicane if you’re in traffic trying not to be pushed wide.

Strangely though, I had the most fun when I was pushed wide at the chicane on lap 1, and spent the race clawing my way back through the field to end 7th after being stationary and facing the wrong way after that first lap shunt.

Awesome job! I’ve done it a couple of times and it is super fun. Best I did was 9th to 4th. To say it’s race A and SR doesn’t count the racing was door to door but not dirty.

Yeah, it’s pretty good - incompetence rather than malice at the chicane mostly. The guy who spun me round on lap 1 got his 3s penalty but still waited and let me past, putting him dead last by about 6-7 seconds once he’d served his “peno” (mate).

 

Having said that, I did get brake checked, damaged and got a penalty when I nudged a guy wide at the chicane (we were 3 wide, it wasn’t going to end well). He could only brake check me as I’d made sure to let him back past… 🤷‍♂️

Just spent the weekend on this in VR and I don't think I could ever go back to flat screen now . It's so good.

 

Did loads of races on daily A and didn't notice it didn't affect SR and DR!! Switched to Race B and got loads of 9th to about 5th at least. Super good fun and my DR is heading back to C which is my target for now.

Thank fuck I finally did that 

 

The Wtc 600. Toughest race yet imo. But I bought the Audi R8 07.

 

Managed to come second on all 3 races. Two fucking days stuck on that bastard.

Daily race A doesn’t generally (ever?) have any effect on dr or sr. It’s in the breakdown of the event if you scroll down on it. It’s meant to be a more funzy style thing with less worries about damaging your ratings I think. 
B tends to be longer than A but still one run and gun stuff & C are the ones that tend to have more stuff like enforced tyre changes or increased fuel usage and tyre wear for the strategies. Both B & C will affect your dr and sr ratings.

Seems to be a lot more in this update than just 5 cars..

 

- 5 new cars (already announced)
- Nurburgring Endurance layouts
- A few new events
- 2 new extra menus
- Adjusted times for Missions, Licenses and Circuit Experiences to reflect the physics changes
- 120hz + VRR support (It's unclear, but I'm guessing it won't be a 120FPS mode and just unlocked performance for the regular mode)
- Physics changes

I heard they wiped all the leaderboards… that’s irritating me much more than it should. I redid a few license tests after getting gold just to try and improve my time, which was now a complete waste of effort.

 

Is this likely to happen often? Has it happened before?

I did a 10 lap Daytona gr3 race last night. There was some noticeable jank, it was almost like monday nights...and I was offline.

I don't think it;s happened before.


They have, in this patch, made some fairly significant changes

■ Anti-Lag System
 ・Introduced a limiter to prevent the engine RPM from rising too much while stopped.

 ・Adjusted the Performance Points (PP) of various cars in the game.

■ Wireless Controller Handling (Steering)
 ・Handling of cars have been improved by adjusting the steering algorithm when using the controller's stick or directional buttons.

■ Wireless Controller Handling (Force feedback)
 ・Handling of cars while steering and information gained from the force feedback should now be improved by adjusting the force feedback algorithm.

■ Assist Settings
 ・Changed some of the default settings for the Assist Presets in the Assist Settings as follows:
  INTERMEDIATE
   Countersteering Assistance: changed from 'Strong' to 'Weak';
   Traction Control: changed from '5' to '3'.
  EXPERT
   Countersteering Assistance: changed from 'Strong' to 'Off.'

  If 'Intermediate' or 'Expert' had been selected prior to Update 1.31, the settings will not be overwritten, but the Assist Preset will change to 'Custom' instead.

 ・Controls for the Traction Control (TCS) have been adjusted. The amount of intervention when set to '1' has been reduced, and increased when set to '5';
 ・Controls for the ABS (Antilock Brakes System) have been adjusted. This has improved stability under full braking situations;
 ・Controls for the Active Stability Management have been adjusted. The amount of intervention when oversteering has been increased to improve stability;
 ・Controls for the Countersteering Assistance have been adjusted. The amount of intervention while oversteering has been reduced, now making the amount of orientation change milder.


 

With all of that, particularly the changes to initial settings of particlar cars,. basically, there's no option but to reset, as there's a risk of the new settings making the old times for things like licenses and circuit experiences (where you can't change the car setup) totally unbeatable.

First time in GT7 i think, but they did it in GT Sport so there is a precedent

I’m really surprised at how much I’m enjoying this. The UI and presentation is absolutely hilarious, but the onboarding is incredibly well done. It’s so good in VR, in fact, that I’ve just ordered my first ever wheel and pedals. 
 

That unskippable intro with Einstein and the Beatles though WTF :lol:

It definitely wasn’t skippable at launch. I thought I had a vague memory of them relenting recently with the VR patch, but when I tried googling for info this thread was among the top results.

It was only unskippable on the first load up, able to skip thereafter as I did that many times!

Yeah that’s what I meant. I thought they wouldn’t want to frustrate new players who wouldn’t otherwise pick up the game, but if it’s still unskippable it’s still hilarious.
