I gave up on GoW3 after an hour because on-the-rails hack-and-slash games aren't my thing. Is there more of a game there or is it a linear button-masher combined with edge-lord set pieces?

These new ones are more of an open world/(groan) Metroidvania style with a better fighting system.

Fucking brilliant. Was never in doubt. Rinsed 2018 but couldn't beat that crazy last Valkyrie, recently installed it to my PS5 to check the 60fps mode. Might go in and try, try and try again to kick her arse.

The highest fps with VRR and 120Hz mode for me.

Roll on the 9th.

Tips for final Valkyrie:

- you Super Move replenishes your health which basically acts as a "second try". So try to start the fight with a full or close to full bar and use it when needed.

- lower difficulty to easy. There's no penalty for it when it comes to Trophies.

Tis a bastard fight and the reward is not worth it 😪

Pretty impressive how Sony managed to release well-received sequels to GoW, Horizon, Ratchet and GT in the first two years of the PS5, during a pandemic, as well as a new Spider-Man (sort of), remakes of Demon's Souls and The Last of Us, and GotG Returnal.

Days Gone > Horizon 2.

I absolutely loathed God of War 3.

So it was tough to have any interest in the reboot. But I took a chance on it in the end and I thought it was one of the best AAA action games I've played. Completely different and well worth it.

I'd recommend picking it up for the budget price it currently goes for, then you'll know if you're on board for the sequel.

Skill Up's review has got me more pumped, not loads 'coz I don't think that's possible with the level of excitement I'm at already, but hot damn do I wish these next six days would just piss off, and at my age you don't wish away days very often.

Absolutely love the way that this game has seemingly lived up to the hype, is both a great looking PS5 game and at the same on PS4. Added to this, it would appear there are next to no fucking bugs anywhere (or at least none to worry about), and it was released on time to boot.

This just doesn't seem to happen much these days and for such a big ticket item it's definitely something to applaud.

Now, to wait for a PC version in a year or two :P

I know the PS5 is the place to be with this, and I'll certainly be playing it with all the bells and whistles HDMI 2.1 brings but for those who are playing it on PS4 it's still going to be fantastic. I, like many/most others, played 2018 on the PS4 (a Pro, mind) and it was fantastic, looked and played incredibly and still looks shit hot today, 30fps and all.

So, if I didn't have a PS5 I'd happily fire this up on my Pro and enjoy an incredible looking and playing game.

If it's anything like its predecessor then it'll be brilliant on a PS4.

The PS4 reboot of GOW was truly one of my fave PS4 game and as someone who hates the Sony story games formula as a rule I was as shocked as anyone! Just watched the DF tech review thing and it looks great, evolution not revolution but I guess its a cross gen game so no surprise there and poss why the high frame rate runs so well!
