Did this tank in the later levels, performance wise? It shit itself a few times on my X and I was wondering if the console was breaking.

This is because of quick resume, apparently.

Not for me on my PS5.

I had a lot of problems on the PS5. Soft and hard crashes, an audio bug that would require a reboot to fix, it's the buggiest game I've played on the PS5. Although I wonder if it's down to a combination of me not playing many PS5 games and my partner playing hundreds of hours of FF14 over the past year and a bit.

Still a lot of fun apart from it capturing the dysfunctional and passive aggressive dynamic of the team from the films too well. Getting yelled at by a talking racoon constantly isn't nearly as fun as seeing Chris Pratt yelled at. That alone stretched out the playtime over a year for me.

I think it crashed once for me - waking from sleep though, so that's more likely the PS5 itself. Had a handful of minor NPC pathfinding bugs, and a couple of characters speaking but no audio issues, and quite a few "stuck in objects" bugs (although only one of those was actually an issue), but it's not even approaching my base level for what I'd consider a buggy game now. I mean, have you played a Bethesda game? Or Ubisoft? Or Lego?

I'm starting to suspect my partner is running the PS5 into the ground or it's overheating. I had issues every single time I played GOTG although the sound corruption thing that happens sometimes happens in FF14 sometimes too.

It may be a later update for it that broke things, I suppose. I played it in February.

I`ve been playing through this the past few evenings on PS5. I`m not a marvel fan and have never seen any of the GOTG movies. I`d also never even heard of this game until recently when I noticed a couple of people refer to it as "better than you probably expect" and "nothing like the avengers game" (which I had heard was bad and full of microtransactions). Anyway it`s on PSPLUS and is a PS5 game so I decided to give it a shot.

I just finished chapter 10 and for me this game has far surpassed the "better than you`d expect" faint praise I`d read. I`m really enjoying it. I`ve actually played quite a few games recently, and this is my favourite of them.

I like the constant banter between the characters, the graphics are very nice, some of the jokes are actually amusing (which is unusual for a game), and the experience feels fairly tight. I appreciate the lack of open world bloat or other padding they could have forced on the player but didn`t.

As I said, I know nothing about GOTG but I think that lack of familiarity has actually been a good thing for me. It`s just a fun space story that doesn`t take itself too seriously with a bunch of fairly interesting teammates. The setup lends itself well to an enjoyable videogame.

I actually quite like the combat. I`m not saying it`s anything amazing but it`s more entertaining to me than the combat in most big budget games I`ve played in the past few years.

This is pretty much the first psplus game that I`ve played recently that I would have been happy to actually pay money for.

One gripe, if I may. I HATE that pressing both analogue sticks together triggers "photo mode". I end up in photo mode way too often in the middle of a battle since you have to run around constantly and also have to press at least the left stick regularly. It`s too easy to accidentally end up in photo mode and I can`t find a way to turn it off, unlike in some other games. It's infuriating every time it happens.

I wish there was a console level setting to automatically disable all photo modes. I will never want to take a "photo" in a game.

Gone back to this as it's been sat in the list of shame for ages, I'd only got past the first level then abandoned it for months.

Not sure why, it's such tremendous fun - one of the most entertaining stories I've seen in a game for ages and they've nailed the GotG 'feel'.  And I love the constant bickering between the crew members.

I know a lot of people hate cut scenes so no doubt they wouldn't get on with this, but it's such a bombastic clusterfuck - I'm having a great time with it.

This is fucking great. I haven't seen an intro to a game which is so laser focussed on my specific interests in a good old while. It's also made me laugh actual laughs rather than smile or snigger. Good shit, man.

Special mention has to go to the character animation. So many games have fucking awful 'acting' but this is great. Like there's a scene aboard the Nova Corp ship where Ko-Rel is arguing with Nikki and Quill is reacting to their conversation instead of just being a mannequin, and Nikki is expressing like a teenage child would. It's pretty glorious.

Oh yeah and the soundtrack is fucking rad.

Yeah, it's brilliant. Never felt more part of a gang in a game than when playing this. The combat can get pretty fiddly but there's plenty of decent fights and at the end of the day it's all about buzzing about with some fellow divs chatting nonsense with each other. Looks fantastic too.

Enjoyed it much more than any Marvel movie since End Game.
