Guardians of the Galaxy (2021) - It's really Groot!

Really enjoying this as well.

That said, I feel like it still could've had an extra month or two to iron out the bugs. Characters getting stuck and glitching is an all too common occurrence. And one time I was unable to shoot till I paused the game and unpaused it again

OK, I've just ramped up my damage output and lowered enemy damage as the combat is just getting I the way of the story now

I eventually got to a point where I could leave it on normal and finish the game with minimal fuss. But that was on a fourth playthrough.

I left it on normal all the way through in my only playthrough  Am I just that 1337?

No I did too and never found the difficulty particularly overwhelming and unusually for me only died a handful of times.

The main issue is a couple of the enemy types and one boss in particular

Spoiler

Looking at you fabled ice dragon

are a bit damage spongy so the combat on occasion was a little elongated; but certainly not terribly hard.

I played on Hard, but it isn't really hard. But I thought it made the combat a bit more interesting. If you make smart use of your elemental attacks and team powers you can wreck enemies.

Not the best combat of the year by a long shot, but I enjoyed it.

Just finished this. I thought it was great overall with a few dips that could have been avoided by dropping/editing a few chapters. I really wasn’t a fan of the combat by the midway point and even wildly altering the settings in my favour did nothing to alleviate the tedious nature of the flying healers. They were rubbish.

Really glad I played and finished it though — thanks to this thread — and it’s definitely a highlight among the year’s releases.

Also, it has Iron Maiden on the soundtrack.

I really enjoyed this, even if I think the gameplay and combat outstayed its welcome towards the end. Settings were great, rapport between the characters felt natural rather than forced and it built upon the prior knowledge people would have had of the characters from the films and/or comics. I think the bond between the characters was also well done and it's a game that had heart, which is often quite hard to say about a franchise production. I was also pretty impressed with the way you commanded the other characters in combat and the trial and error approach of mixing up their moves.

I had no interest in this until folks on here started praising it, but rllmukisation led me to pick it up as a result. This did more than enough to convince me to preorder a sequel. A welcome surprise.

Just started this last night and christ it's fun! Just spent three hours this morning playing it as well without realising the time. The banter really helps make it.

It reminds me (in a good way) of a 7th generation game in style, the type of games we don't tend to get any more. Real looker on the SX as well. Looking forward to playing more later.

Mantis is the best character. Loved this game.

I'm somewhat inebriated, and read this as "Martin". So for a few very confusing minutes I was wracking my brain thinking, "Martin? There's no fucking Martin in this game? Who the fuck is Martin?"

Started this last month but it sort of got put on hold thanks to Halo Infinite and FH5, but thanks to Christmas holiday starting yesterday smashed about eight hours in to it the last couple of days, and it really is brilliant. On what I assume is the run up to giving the bad guy a good kicking…

Spoiler

Killed/unkilled the dragon and fighting through the carnage afterwards

And it’s genuinely thrilling. Just brilliant set piece after set piece, and really funny lines. Will be sad to finish it.

Finished it last night and enjoyed every last minute of it. Think it's a strong contender for my GotY.

Combat did get a little grating in places but more than made up for by the frantic pace of battles as your team mates waded into fights at your command and bodies went flying everywhere.

Spoiler

Grand master Raker (or whatever his name was) fight did go on a bit long but obviously served as the full on end boss fight prior to the Warlock/Magus bit at the end (which was very well done,  even if it did end with a QTE sequence).

Bring on the Sequel!
