I'd be interested to hear who you think the plenty of left leaning presenters are too. Natasha Devon seems fairly left leaning on the couple of times I've caught her show, but that's about it. There's a small handful of centrist types, a couple of don't seem to discuss politics in the middle of the night (one of whom specialises in nasty sniping at women and their weight) and then the remainder who are straight out of the pages of the red top tabloids.

Nick Abbot and David Lammy come to mind, and Natasha of course. Maajid before he went insane. The whole point is that it's a mix, it's tipped both ways over the years tho.

Is Nick Abbot the one who's shows consist of frequent use of a silly soundboard? If so then I'll be honest, I turned him off in annoyance after I listened to him a couple of times for that reason and have never gone back so I dunno about his politics. I heard David Lammy telling a caller the other week that Starmer is a fantastic leader of the Labour Party and will make a great PM so we'll just leave that there.

He's in the Nawaz business, as far as I can tell. Everything is about generating hype for himself at the cost of any consistency or actual progress. But it's very useful for an organisation like LBC to have a token 'former extremist' to provide performative balance.

Ugh, I thought I recognised this name from somewhere. My mum talks about him fairly frequently. Has he been talking about labs in Wuhan recently? She mentions it a lot now and I occasionally wonder where it's coming from.

Nah, what do you base this on, the viral clips of him destroying people phoning in?

His main problem is none of the people who engineered Brexit will actually call in, JRM did once and they sort of cancelled each other out. He's not punching down on purpose it's just the only people who are foolish enough phone in and defend Brexit end up like fish in a barrel.

He did stop doing it for a while but on occasions someone will call in and he'll get tempted to ask them about why they voted to leave, it's quite interesting sometimes to find out why.

I feel I must say that I do not listen to LBC because of James. I listened to it before he was on and I will listen to it after, there are presenters on there I like and some I hate. I do not parrot their views or let them overly influence me, I actually find it quite interesting to hear other peoples views that I might disagree with politically. I much prefer talk radio to music radio, why would I want to listen to a load of music I do not like repeated over and over all day?

It was on in the background my whole childhood, back when Pete Murray was on and Peter Cook used to call into Clive Bull half cut doing stupid characters. There's been some memorable moments on there, I find radio an amazing medium esp for breaking news. I work from home and have done for almost 20 years and it's kept me company the whole time and I've not turned into some crazy fascist loon... yet.

Was listening to it the other day and this lady rang in moaning about British people who work in care homes, the foreigners were much more smart she said because they came prepared with good gloves and shoes where as the British people would come in with wet socks as they were not smart with how they protected themselves in poor weather.

It's honestly this kinda thing that keeps me listening from time to time, you never know when it's going to happen but it's fascinating when it does.

I’ve been listening to LBC randomly. My thoughts…

Some posh twat in the morning slot, being really poor at poor provacative. He was going off on one when he randomly started ranting about cyclists but his delivery was poor, he said “yeah, um….Lycra, what’s that all about , ain’t they weird lol”

I had to cringe.

Majid whatshisname, you can tell he dispairs at having sold out his soul to brown nose these ignorant twats calling in moaning about immigrants. Probably wishes he was back in Ann Egyptian prison.

Rachel Johnson, she’s aright.

I try not to make sarcastic, rude comments to strangers on Twitter, but when the excellent Eddie Mair left Radio 4 to go to LBC I tweeted to him that it was a shame he was going to regional radio, and that I'd miss him, but I didn't get a response.

Your tweets don’t reach London.

What a thought provoking plan that basically amounts to him saying 'I think adults function as children and go to their gp for every minor thing'. I think we should spare a thought for the possibility that inside Nick Ferreri there is a little innocent child that dies every day, that there is an awareness in him that he exists to spew harmful shite and it's not a treadmill he feels he can ever get off, there's a pitiful existence to those who talk relentlessly for a living when it's all so negative and uninformed.

I listen to Nick Ferrari for about 45 mins in the morning, then Jimmy O for the whole thing and Shiela Fogarty for an hour, I spend my 45 mins pretty much rolling my eyes at Nick Ferrari but he'll surprise me once a week/month and find we agree on something and he's not a complete tool.

I'm pretty much the same. Parents and grandparents listened to it constantly over the years so it's always been background noise. Back when it was actually 'London'. The difference now I find (past 6 years, surprise surprise?) is the utterly utterly crushing state of the UK in general and particularly its media, of all persuasions.

Whenever I have the misfortune to overhear a snippet now the overwhelming impression I get is of impending doom. Not only because of the actual doom surrounding the UK but because of the views and opinions spouted by the public and the hosts themselves. It beggars belief the complete idiocy on display. And from the hosts in particular, goodness me. Some of them should be locked up for promoting rank stupidity. The only person with some shred of intelligence is O'Brien, but even he has glaring issues where he entertains and engages opinions which are palpably wrong.

Anyway tldr, I can certainly see why someone regularly listening to lbc might have their opinions/sense of reality scrambled. In my case it brings on anxiety, because I can't believe the UK has come to this, so I usually ask politely to turn it down when I have to be within listening distance for any length of time.

Happy to hear that the massively over inflated ego and absolute fruit cake these days, Maajid Nawaz has been given the boot.

Superb news this.

I have been listening to LBC since the time of the referendum, and at the start of the pandemic, when it was really hot and everything was shut, I spent most of my day listening, it's on in the background now as I type this.

I find it fascinating, it's like the worlds worst radio drama, but you just can''t stop listening, a something more outrageous, or stupid, will be uttered every few minutes.

The only presenter who I couldn't deal with was Majid, not a while back, he used to see OK, but in the last 6 months, maybe 12, he has gone off the rails, anti vax being just one of his worrrying derailments, to the point I'd switch off if I happened hear him.

LBC isn't great radio, but it's entertaining for it's comedy value, you've got to be bonkers to call into a radio show and try to put across a different point of view to the pressenter, and listening to this sparing contest makes me chuckle 😛

Can' stand all the self righteous pricks on this station (and TalkRadio) especially James O'Brien. It's a shame he hosts mystery hour, which for me is the only part of the stations output I like listening to.
