Will we have to stump up more money when we want to make a signing?

Yeah, this is what sprung to mind when I read the news. How would it work, exactly? Sounds ideal, but is it too good to be realistic?

You're buying from the Glazers. Do you think they'd prefer the guaranteed money or the hopes and dreams money?

It's a publicity stunt, unfortunately.  There's no practical thought gone into the whole thing.  It's all nonsense.  For a start, you can't "submit a bid" when half the required funds relies on getting £5 each from several hundred million people.  Also, he seems to be basing the figures for his "bid" on the current market value of just over £3b, not the Glazer's asking price, which is double that.

The whole thing is set up so that he's going to be remembered by some credulous fans as the guy who tried to give us fans exactly what we wanted, to make the club fan-owned.  He's trying to position himself as a hero, thwarted by the other greedier bidders, despite the fact that there is absolutely zero merit to his "bid".

Based on nothing but a nagging feeling that they might prefer to retain ownership with minority investment coming in, but I’m still not entirely convinced the Glazers will sell up and fuck off until it actually happens.

Well no, there most likely will be no takeover. The parasites have set the price far too high. £6b is ridiculous even leaving aside the fact that the buyers would have to pay another £2b to clear the debt and fix or rebuild the stadium.

Apparently the bids from both Qatar and Ratcliffe are well short of the asking price and the Glazers are determine to hold out for their absurd valuation.

All this is based on the various journalists who are close to the club, and they all have their own sources with various agendas so it's difficult to figure out what is true and what is a bargaining tactic. For example Mike Keegan is writing off the takeover, but he's considered to be a bit of a Glazers propaganda tool, so is it posturing by them?

I personally don't think there will be a takeover for the reasons I said earlier - no sensible businessman is going to pay double an asset's value and take on huge debts and obligations of further expenses, particularly when the income and earning potential of that asset is in decline.

I get the feeling a lot of the journalists who cover the club usually, aren't finance and business experts and are happy to be fed information from wherever.

Some of the reporting has been quite poor I think.

I doubt the Glazers would let it get this far without offloading the club. I'm pretty certain they'll sell, but we probably won't like who buys the club.

This is all just the Glazers posturing, trying to get as much money as they possibly can surely? No way they will turn down 5 billion if that is the highest bid.

Mike Keegan has been the mouthpiece for the Qatar side of things (not quite sure how many articles he has written going on about how the Qatar guy is a life long united fan) but also was one of the journalists who reported that all bids were in at the last deadline but it turned out it had been extended.

We'll be sold soon enough. Probably to Qatar who are probably willing to pay a little bit more than everyone else.

Spork on the money. this is exactly. Its just like buying a car "well ive got a few people interested" / "i will only take X"  / "i might just keep it, its really good honest(even though the car has no windows, moss growing in the seats, and the engine is sat on a dolly in bits)"

Financials the other month showed they cant afford to keep running the club. The club infrastructure is massively in need to investment, running costs are biting etc etc. Even though they are cunts, i don't think they're stupid. They know if they've got an offer for 5.5bn on the table, they may never get a bid that high ever again for it. especialy if investment on the pitch doesn't go as planned and we slip down the table again, another year without a major trophy with the world ever on teh brink of another financial crash.

All the will they / won't they and GLAZERS PERFORM POTENTIAL SALE UTURN headlines are there to sell newspapers / get ad clicks. I'd be very surprised if we have any accurate figures and data from the ineos/qatar bids at all. it's in no bidding parties interest to publically say how much they're offering, or the glazers on saying just how much they'll really accept.
