He knew exactly what he was getting into, which is why he insisted on the consultancy role afterwards. With Woodward out of the way by summer, the new head coach will be just that, and most likely Rangnick's pick. He then has a two year period to show enough that he lands the DoF job.

He'll most-likely get it right. He tends to. From a personal point-of-view it's disappointing, because I don't enjoy this style of football, but here we are.

Anywhere I can find running stats? For the team and individual players under Ole this season and under Rangnick. Carragher just put up an article and said this:

Quote

Those who you would have imagined to embrace a high energy game – such as Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood – are doing nowhere near enough. They are young lads who should be leaving everything on the pitch, vibrant with the ball and relentless in their running off it. Compare their work rate with Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden or Mason Mount and it is embarrassing. They have to look at themselves.

It is staggering that, at 34, Edinson Cavani is doing so much more than his younger, attacking team-mates, averaging 11.7 km per game. That’s second only to Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino as the hardest working forward in the Premier League. Rashford (9.9km) and Greenwood (9.8km) are 44th and 46th on that list.

Where are Shaw, AWB and Scotty?

Guardian says Shaw and McTominay suspended. Van De Beek must love to see players who haven't played for the club in 2 years or ever started a game...start before him. Different positions sure. Can't wait to see this Matic Fred midfield again.

Will be interesting to see how Fernandes does with Ronaldo not there, and by interesting I mean 'perhaps less painful to endure'.

As many legs as possible all over the pitch, because he only trusts Matic that deep. Such are the consequences of an unbalanced squad.

Reckon this could be a very good match. Fuck knows how it'll go though.

Delighted to see Elanga get a start. He's grafted his arse off since the summer, so good luck to him.

We should try to run at Digne. He's not great defensively (which is why Benitez didn't play him) and he's already picked up a booking for a really daft challenge.  Perhaps we should be switching Elanga back to that side and actually trying to give him the ball this time.

It would be quite funny if we held on for another jammy 1-0 after an early goal (perhaps with some more disallowed Villa goals) but yeah, we need to score again.  We've played well.  Bruno has been brilliant - he looks absolute class today.
