Football kits 2022/23

Classic Villa home shirt is a straight up and down claret body sky blue sleeves. It's a look that works best being simple. We very occasionally do something whacky with it (the early 2000s striped one inspired by the 57 FA Cup shirt springs to mind). Usually the only thing that massively changes is how they do the sleeves and the collar. The Luke shirt is about the only non standard home shirt we've had that was universally liked, with blue trim only.

Don't like the away - that's a West Ham style away shirt.

Third I quite like.

Nah.  Villa very rarely (if ever) have white on the shirts, almost always white shorts (I prefer it when we have claret or blue shorts) and the socks are usually claret and blue with blue being the dominant colour.

One of the hallmarks of a Villa design I guess is blue detailing around the neck line, for years the club had a blue ring around the top and while that's gone away a little bit (last time was 92/93) the neck has been blue whether it's a crew neck or a v neck.    Last time we didn't have blue sleeves was 2018/19 which was a shirt that appears to be universally loved by fans.

This was a beautiful kit

The right sleeve is optimistic, but overall I like it.

It's hideous!

It doesn't help I have the original somewhere in a drawer. That shitty 90s fabric which would build up enough static electricity to stop your heart and chaffed your nipples raw.

The only 90s kit that should be paid homage to is the 99/00 Fila one and certainly nothing Bukta or Pony!

I always admired Pony for manufacturing the shirts of a club from the East End of London. They must have known, right?

To be fair, they also did Spurs. Make of that what you will

Aston Villa home/away/third according to social media leaks tonight.  44976855-9E51-4BF2-AC62-15805DD1EF8F.jpeg.0b78985ce8cd4a1d9f1d334faaa2bcab.jpegCADB34BA-B564-483C-98DB-9DBB9E0EF6BC.jpeg.34612b82cd7d3d8d29fb4b29662c66eb.jpeg0DE70A77-C5A9-4D4D-AAB7-3A96D878EB64.jpeg.be01f9c26981a8eebaa6436f40b4bc9d.jpeg

As much I think these, away aside, are decent, they do look cheap. The home is the basic Villa kit, but there is something about it that feels a bit... 2005-y, somehow. The fabric also looks thin and shiny, the kind of thing you could spill a cup of tea on and have it melt, or if you were mad enough to put an iron near it would bond instantly.

The blue is slightly off as well. Although i appreciate that's probably the lighting. It should be a little darker IMO.

That away is unsalvageable though. Bin on the far side of Mars.

All these lovely shirts (Leicester knocking it out of the park again with the away) and this is apparently what West Ham are doing:

FFS

Getting a strong rugby league vibe from those shoulder stripes.

Here's Roma's new kit:

Reminds me of a richly upholstered armchair next to a huge fireplace, which isn't something I'd associate with a football kit usually.

Oof. Newcastle's away for next season. Just happens to be the Saudi colours. Wonder if the player names and numbers will be in blood red.9GfM7AZy?format=jpg&name=small

I actually really like those colours and the top looks lovely. A shame about the whole situation.

Juventus.   Still seemingly bothered by the fact that black and white stripes are synonymous with referees in the oh so profitable American market.   I kinda like the front, but again they've got the problem about how stripes look shit with a name and number on the back or the shirt looks looks incomplete without a name and number on it. I think if I were making this unveiling video I'd have have the same and number on the back rather than a huge white space.

Also the Adidas shoulder stripes and the geometric ones really clash, and what's with the super shiny Jeep logo with lightning bolts?!

Its like an old Williams F1 car - love the fans are protesting it, no doubt the same fans who welcomed the blood money saviours and prefer prem football to championship 😂

Is it supposed to look like the sponsor has driven over it?

I’ll type similar every year but all clubs with a betting firm sponsor should produce a quota of ‘blank’ shirts (many do it for U18 kits)

Miss the days when you could steam off the sponsor or it just fell off after one too many washes.
