Didn't they release a table a few weeks ago to show exactly how old service codes will convert to new service.

My memory is that...

Existing time (including any stacking after the announcement before they shut that down) converts time to time. So 1 month is 1 month. 6 months is 6 months. Etc.

New time (i.e. old codes added in the future) will convert money to time. So you have to take the old value of the card and essentially that's funds towards the new service. So maybe 6 months before is now 4 months worth because it's more expensive.

This is exactly right. It's completely incorrect to say they haven't confirmed whether existing codes will work. They have confirmed they will but at the monetary value they represent rather than the time period they represent.

Has there been any confirmation that the first party games once they show up on the service are on there for good as with GP, or is there the possibilty of them being rotated in and out?

Not for first party as per the question.

Pretty much only the Forza and Horizon titles are the ones pulled eventually. Everything else seems to be permanent.

Then again, and this is by no means a dig, the exclusives on the Xbox platform (Big AAA beasts) have been few and far between, so maybe when all the new acquisitions start pumping all these monsters out, the rotations will be more common. I see no value in the rotation for MS though as if I am being honest the value in GP is the absolute constant indies that are getting added. Many day one. I find it hard to play due to choice paralysis, but it really is something else.

I hope Sony can get a similar chunk of cool new indies.

Hopefully indies can play them off each other for more cash $$$$$

Or even better... Indies just show up on both platforms. Fuck exclusivity. I mean fine obviously if they just use them to get both to pay more.

Bend have shared some interesting info:

Sony's had patents regarding adding Trophies to classic games for ages, so perhaps we're seeing those realised. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean every game will have them, but it's a neat incentive to check out older titles.

Obviously we're still waiting to see how good the emulation will be. I am presently surprised to see Sony seemingly putting some effort in, though.

I mean honestly Trophies? I really can't stand that addition. Like really? Do we really want that? Do we need a slightly interesting way to replay and find new things to do in games? I don't want that...

They already did this, with their PS2-on-PS4 emulations. Worked well, pretty cool.

I truly don't give a shit about trophies for PS1/2 games. I hope it's something that they only do for properly high-profiile games. All it does is present a hurdle for releasing less-well-known stuff.

I don't want them deciding not to release Urban Chaos because it's too much of an arse-ache to implement trophies. I just want the game.

Sounds like they have filter options etc too.

Thank god, I’m not sure any of those PSone textures should be seen in 4K.

Don't get too excited; they've messed the CRT filter up -

The scan lines don't line up with the pixels!

Ah well that’s patchable. The intent is there that’s the main thing.

I guess it's a fairly simple result of how much it would cost versus how many people would care, but the CRT filters in these things are usually pretty low quality. You see absolutely incredible filter overlays in emulators that require quite beefy hardware but exactly replicate the distinctive look of (for example) a SNES game. Most filters in commercial releases just draw black lines across the screen, which looks OK but doesn't really capture the blur, glow, and bleed of real hardware. You get the occasional release that goes above and beyond the usual, like the Turrican collection, but it's mostly quite simple. Although I'm always glad that the option is there for retro or retro-styled games, I would love it if publishers drew on some expertise in the emulation sector to produce something that looks really authentic.

Games from the Hong Kong launch, so might be some differences for us and doesn't include the PS3 streaming.

So could Ridge Racer be a region thing or what? I am in need of some Ridge Racer!

The Messenger is one of the greatest games ever too for anyone that has not played it and likes an old school feeling title. I somehow totally missed it off my list and have big regrets!
