Overall a really strong month, but I'd like to highlight The Forgotten City in particular.

I don't really want to say too much about it but it's a detective game in a historical setting. People in the city have their own schedules and there's a time loop mechanic that encourages you to prod at its world to see what happens. It's somewhat similar to Outer Wilds, albeit with less Newtonian physics.

It's also gone from game pass now and yes it's incredible

Forbidden West is a nice addition for people who like that sort of thing. I’m currently suffering from a serious case of AAA open world fatigue so even the thought of playing it for 40-50 hours just makes me shudder.

The price of aaa open world stuff seems to drop like a rock after a year or two here, but stuff like Ratchet and Clank seems to be holding its value similar to Nintendo first party games.

I’d like to play Rift Apart and Sackboy but I just can’t bring myself to buy them at this stage, especially as the prices of both haven’t dropped much here. They must be coming to psplus soon, right??

I'd be quite interested to download Forbidden West, but Destiny 2 Lightfall is two weeks away. No chance I'm gonna put time in FW. It'll have to wait.

Still, if the trend is that the big Sony titles wait a year then arrive in the subs package, that's not a bad model.

They've skipped Ratchet and Sackboy if that's the case. Probably just that they've got the DLC on the way and want to maximise sales of that.

Doubt we're getting GT7 next month either, what with the PSVR2 update.

They will want to stagger first party games. It makes no sense to dump a bunch of them at once given the age of the service but prob release them every six months or so once the relevant titles are old enough

PSA: Get a Boomerang Rental account and have the games posted to you.  It's like living in the 00s! I pay £10.99 a month and over the last 15 months I have played:

Rift Apart

Sackboy

GotG

Sekiro

Forbidden West

GoT

RE VIII

Lego Star Wars

Sifu

GT7

TLoU Part 1

GOW Ragnarok

COD MWII

Skyward Sword HD

All of which has cost me the sum of £142 (you earn points which I've used to get 2 free months in that time) which is 2 full-price Sony games right?  For me, where I like to play a single-player game to completion, and then probably won't play it again for several years, it's perfect.  I have no interest in multiplayer at all so once I'm done with a game it goes straight back.  Well worth it for me.

It’s annoying though because eventually it will happen to a game I want to return to.

And quite frankly it was fun just to drive around in that game. I can’t believe they haven’t sorted it but I won’t ring support because I don’t have the time to relive the tea/no tea puzzle from Hitchhikers Guide.

Turns out I can't ring support.

What I can do is

-Use their self serve support system which is like a choose your own adventure taking you on a circular trip.

-Use their online support bot that tries to push you into doing the above and then if you try to talk to an agent cheerfully tells you there's none available and ends the session dumping you into a survey wanting you to tell them just how awesome they are.

I have zero faith I'll get this resolved before the end of February.

Fucking lol. Rang their support hotline. Was told to use their support portal online.

Chat seemed responsive and then just dropped. And now I get this rage inducing message.

Quote

Hey there, back so soon?, it seems Chat has not been of help to you, please try again later.

I guess that's their metrics sorted problem solved. I give up.

Edit. Got on to chat, provided them with some basic login information got moved to another agent and then told that my request was being dropped because it was outside hours. (It isn't.) Suspect this is Sony having their revenge on being pinged by the ACCC on digital refunds. "Can't get a refund if the customer can't contact us." Starting to prefer their fake twitter account.

Did you argue this point like a motherfucker?  Don't let them fob you off, the support portal is clearly not working for you.  Tell them you want to escalate the issue (go full Karen; ask to speak to a manager).

I didn’t get a person to argue with.
