I would say the kind where you are aggressive, without thinking. Where anger gets the better of you and you don't consider the consequences, where you go in all guns blazing because you're angry and your primal urge to destroy comes through in full.

Can't think of any games that apply, mind you, but hey! ;)

Mario Kart - when someone lightning bolts you as you near the finish and runs over you can produce red mists of anger so think that the Yorkshire Moors have nothing on them.

The catagories are:

Aggression.

Fear.

Speed.

Mystery.

Dexterity.

Euphoria.

The games as they stand:

Doom

Project Zero

F-Zero GX

Beyond Good and Evil

Super Monkey Ball

Gitaroo Man

It has to be SMB. What it asks of players thumbs is beyond the norm. So simply, yet so complex at the same time.

Starter for ten.

It's there because there is a fair bit of mystery contained within the game. How far does the conspiracy go? Where is the next Alpha Squad base? What lengths will the invaders go to?

And so on. Plus, it's really nice. If I wanted just a pure mystery, I'd pop in DID's Inferno. After all, no-one has any idea how you play the fucker.

Just a quick suggestion for Mystey. Sentinel. That was a...mysterious game. In feel at least. Youknowwhatimean?

Could quite easily go in the fear section as well. The moment the sentinel locked on to you was a cold, clammy handed nightmare moment. Used to scare me anyway.

Aggression...Half-Life - see the shaking of the mad MP5

Fear...Half-Life - because I often walk around dark head-crab filled corridors with 2 health and a 9mm with a half-empty clip for company.

Speed...Wario Ware - 4 seconds per game? Jesus...

Mystery...Kurushi - because the levels are just sooo mysterious.

Dexterity...Soul Calibur - damn combos mean that I need more hands

Euphoria...Metal Slug 4 - ...because it's such fun to gun down four solders in front of you, then spin round and get another behind you before flicking the joystick up for a split-second to nail that sniper in the window.

My suggestion for mystery is Shadowrun. Although the meat of the game was extremely conventional, there is something about waking up and not knowing who you are. In that respect, XIII is a potential candidate, but a substantially weaker one.

Add Flashback to that list.

I thought Streetfighter 2/SF3 should be there for dexterity. You can't bash away to win like you can in VF4 (yes, I realise a master will beat a basher - I'm refering to the cpu match tp a certain degree).

The combination of joystick and buttons is more prevalent in SF. Aside from the Hundred Foot Kick or Hand slap, there's very little pressing of the same button in a row.

Getting the dragon punch down is a must. To be a complete player you must have all aspects of the game down (like any fighting game, I guess) but I think props should be given to SF for pioneering the whole 'QCF' thing that exists in fighters as standard. I'm not sure of the aerial game of VF4 - but aerial play features greatly in SF.

How about substituting Time Crisis for Doom in the agrression category? Doom certainly is about aggression but it's got a fair bit of tactical play - movement, weapon selection etc - and exploration. Time Crisis combined with the GCon is just, well, shooting and the sound and slight flashing of the screen with each shot really up the aggression levels.

Aggression: Silent Hill

Fear: Silent Hill 2

Speed: Burnout 2

Mystery: Beyond Good & Evil

Dexterity: Dance Dance Revolution

Euphoria: Rez

Aggression: killing unknown hostile species, some of 'em look like/are kids, is very agressive if you ask me.

Fear: great mixture of love and fear. You want to love Mary and/or Maria but you have no idea what your dead wife and the mysterie womam bring you.

Speed: driving in te wrong line at 250 kh/h.

Mystery: very good storytelling. The story is a bit bull but the way it's told is marvelous. Ubi could make the story of Maximo compelling and mysterious.

Dexterity: dancing. Dancing hard and dancing good.

Euphoria: direct assault, one hour of pure bliss. After rescuing Eden is really break down *in tears*.

Aggression - Quake 2

Fear - Alien Vs Predator1 [pc]

Speed - diddy kong racing

Mystery - Zelda:WW

Dexterity - Wario ware

Euphoria.

----------------------

quake2 cause theres nothing like bunny hoping through a map with a rail/rocket launcher in a Single player game and think that you are un-killable. i loved doing levels in (what seemed like) seconds and leaving nothing standing. ownage !!!11

AVP1 i don't play this game anymore. i beat it once, and that's all i am ever gonna beat it. not because i hate it. cause it scares the be-jesus out of me. its sequel was much the same.

DKR not exactly the fastest game, but cause of that end of game boss. remember the first time you met him? it seemed like you had to hit every booster perfectly, every corner perfectly. you needed every milli-second you could get. i remember the first time i beat him, it was by point 3 of a second.

Zelda: WW I love going across the sea. no map, don't know where i am going, i see an island, i go there, i investigate. i love it.

Wario Ware Each time you play a game for the first time and get the game right, its so satisfying.
