Williams in a tricky situation. NL brings a bunch of good finance to that seat, and is very popular in the team. He's just not quite cut out for F1.

British Grand Prix 2023 here I come! Just spent a chunk of change on my first ever live viewing. Taking my daughter and we're gonna camp there too! Jumping in with both feet and going with full three days and the Wellington Enclosure and going from the blurb on the website:

Which sounds a lot of fun, it also includes inner track access.

So yeah, given you are going the three days I believe Friday and... some (?) of Saturday you can wander around and sit where you want barring a few grandstands. Last time I went was in 2014 though so it might have changed a bit.

 

I always recommend the grandstands at Copse and the Maggots/Becketts complex if you can get there. The Maggots/Becketts complex also has a patch of fencing you can stand by that's quite close to the circuit - it's quite the experience! Below is a video of me stood there during a somewhat wet Friday Practice 1 session in 2013.

 

 

Just noticed one of the cars that moseys on past is Jules Bianchi. Oh :(.

 

My main advice though is to just soak it in. Have a general idea of where you want to be for the F1 sessions (likely your assigned enclosure for qualifying and definitely your assigned enclosure for the race), but in the time between wander around the circuit taking in different viewpoints for the other series. I'd recommend staying until the end of track activity on Friday and Saturday as a bunch of folks go home after the F1 finishes, so you'll a) avoid a traffic spike and b) get to see the Formula 2/3 qualifying (Friday) and races (Saturday). To be honest, Friday and Saturday were my favourite days of the weekend.

 

It's a pretty magic place to be on an F1 weekend, and I wish I could go and experience it for the first time again! Traffic in and out isn't amazing but it's a bunch better than it was, and it sounds like you've got camping sorted so that should alleviate that. It's basically a three-day motorsport festival and you and your daughter are going to have an amazing time :).

Whenever I've been to silverstone, i have to say the inside of the track isn't the most exciting of views.

Personally, I've always liked the walk down from Copse to Stowe the best. As the cars turn into Maggots as Kiroquai pointed out is just amazing. if you can get right on the apex as the cars go past, it blows your mind how fast they are going. then the banking on the exit of chapel as the cars head to the hanger straight are terrific. The track drops down slightly so you get a nice view of the cars at about head height.

 

Inside wise the twisty bit at Village and The loop are probably the best, but you have to stand on the infield road to get a good view and the marshals can be a bit iffy about crowds building up. It's the main access to the pits for the teams so you do get lots of VIPs cruising past the muddy scum there. 

 

to be honest, the best thing about the infield is the fan zone stuff and the support race paddocks, the best views are on the outside. 

 

bare in mind that most punters will arrive at 6am and have their spot secured at about 6.10am after which they do not move. Unlike Sportscar racing, moving around on Saturday and Sunday isn't the norm. so getting a good spot for practice or qualiy can be tricky.

Just booked seats at turn 1 of the Hungaroring for the weekend with mates. Really looking forward to it! First race since 2019.

 

For Silverstone 100% go and sit in the Becketts on Friday or Sat for a session and see the cars do silly things at speed. If you do it on Friday then the pit straight is a good one for qually as you can see into the pits as long as you are not too far to the end of the pitlane as it dips down.

we have assigned seats for the 3 days so we’ll take the opportunity to walk around without fear of giving up our spaces. 
 

The downside is I got a redundancy notice the day after spending nearly £2k on this. I’m still hoping to do this next year as it’s a early 40th present but I may need to flip the tickets.

That schedule is (a) brutal and (b) really stupid. 

 

There's absolutely no way to justify three separate Middle Eastern legs, for example. Pick the start or end of the calendar and go there once (or ideally fuck it off and don't go there at all, but we know that's not going to happen.)

 

Nor is there any excuse for going to Canada between Spain and Austria. 

 

About the only good thing I have to say about the schedule is that Spa is still on it.
