Exactly, rule infringements by the team are usually at the detriment of the driver bar spygate

Yup, you just know the punishment is going to be something like "were excluding Red Bull from the 2021 constructors championship" which nobody cares about

Haha, amazing. I'll give him bonus kudos points for degree of difficulty if the Tyrrell he's bought is the six-wheeler :)

Nope. My knowledge is limited, but I did think I remembered that they had the six-wheeler so did ask and he said it was some other one.

A couple of others he's done and some from his pile...

Can't really punish Max.

Eh? Of course you can punish Max. If a team has to use an additional power unit or gearbox in a race they don’t punish the team exclusively do they.  The driver gets a grid penalty .
Why would you think that max being in a car that has a speed advantage due to deliberately ignoring the cost cap means he should be not penalised?

i mean he obviously won’t be . This is the FIA and redbull we are talking about . But poor max,  two championships, one handed to him by a corrupt race director and the other won by his team cheating. He deserves better.

That was all quite straight forward really

Anyway, why I came in here. I thought perhaps the historians might like my old man's latest project he's just starting on...

I've just been round there and he said he's today bought some Tyrrell car for a future build.

Can't fault his taste. The most technically advanced f1 car built.

Side Newey note, how come the leyton house car doesn't get a chapter in his 'how to build a car' book?

Max’s 2022 title is clean as far as we know

The overspend means they had more to put towards this years car, meaning Mercedes would have spent money they didn't need to keeping up with them, meaning less to spend on this seasons car.

Presumably Red Bull and Aston Martin have both continued to use the same accounting practices this year as last so there's a decent chance the procedural breach will still be there. It won't be as big a deal for Aston is they are still complying with the overall budget cap but could be awkward for Red Bull.

My gut instinct is that the FIA will try to hit Red Bull with a reduced budget cap for the next two years or a more severe reduction for one season.

both teams have agreed to stop eating toast, on account of it being bread, that’s been baked, and then cooked again.

the savings could be astronomical.

The cost cap breach applies to the 2021 season. Max’s 2022 title is clean as far as we know, if Fed Bull have done the same again this season we won’t find out until this time next year.

Cost cap breach last year means more money for developing this seasons car than other teams got. And baking in an advantage until the next rules change. Well worth it if you’re a fan of cars with a team manager who’s a bit celeb, and an acquired taste. Like their main sponsor.

Massi wasn't corrupt, he was out of his depth and incompetent. To give him his dues.

Corrupt is propbably too strong a word as it implies explicitly paid for favours etc but it wasnt imcompetence at the end of last year, calling them that is letting them off lightly,  they knew the rules, they knew what should have happened but did whatever they had to to deliver a last lap of 'racing'.

Is it real? I assumed it was a parody account, but it looks like it might be real.

I'm reading the book about them at the moment and there are loads of references to tweets from @rich_energy so that is definitely the official Rich Energy Twitter account (or at least it has been in the past - I don't know who controls it these days but I would assume it's still Storey).

This, presumably fan video of the aftermath of the Sainz off, is an interesting angle on the situation. Some cars at the back of the SC train must have been taken by surprise at the scene as even they were a bit scary fast. Despite panning away before Gasly's arrival, you still get a good sense of how quickly the situation must have confronted him.

Alonso said he didn’t even see the tractor when behind the safety car, had no idea it was there until asked about his thoughts on it 😱
