I still say you can’t separate the driver from the team. The success of the driver in the WDC is massively dependent on the performance of the team. If any team benefited from wrongdoing to the level that they would be disqualified from the WCC then the driver also has to get the same for the WDC. In a scenario like that it doesn’t matter if the driver knew or had anything to do with it they still benefitted.

If a driver won a race in a car that was found to be under the weight limit they would be disqualified. Wing too big? Disqualified. The driver loses out because of the teams mistake. It has to be like that imo. You can’t let the driver go unpunished - even though they did nothing ‘wrong’ themselves.

If RB knew that they could do this every year, lose the WCC and win the drivers with overspend they’d absolutely do it every time.

If they have gone over and they get away with a slap on the wrist you might as well scrap the whole cap. It was always going to be a nightmare to police but if the FIA fall at the first hurdle then it’s actually far worse to have the cap than not imo. Because some will try to stick to it and some will purposefully break it, knowing the penalty will be fuck all. At that point any remaining claim to be a sport is gone. It’s full blown WWE.

I don’t see a good outcome here. Just more endless drama.

I think you have a short memory…. If its Lewis at the helm then its all car but if its Max its all driver…..

He’s basically said calling Redbull cheats is irresponsible because it might cause a kid to commit suicide, he’s a piece of shit.

A Red Bull employee would never accuse another team of cheating of course.

After Sunday's race, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen said he was "not surprised at all" by Ferrari's dip in competitiveness and went as far as alleging Ferrari had been cheating prior to the technical directive being issued.

"That's what happens when you stop cheating, of course," he told Dutch TV. "But yeah, they had a good look at it. So now we have to keep a close eye on it."

Ok I found this. Excellent response from Zak. I need to watch this press conference in full. Horner is just going full Horner. Whatever.

Whilst Horner obv has a point that no one should be being bullied full stop it will be interesting to see what Redbull do if they accept that they have been cheating due to the mental anguish this will have caused their employees and that any allegation made against them will simply be factual - I guess at least they wont loose their main sponsor but I wonder what other backers will think of it, will be a get out of any contract breach… maybe Honda will pull out 😂

Fucking lol at Horner "waaaah Zak said we're cheating, won't someone think of the children"

Zak: "I didn't say youre cheating, I said if someone was cheating, then..."

Sad to hear of the death of Mateschitz

I like how Ricciardos come out and said that Landos good but it's down to him only having driven the McLaren when the usual rhetoric is that having experience of different cars usually (though not always) makes you faster.

His career went to shit as soon as Max arrived at Red Bull and his homesickness when racing returned during COVID didn't help either.

Someone was asking me the other day about Danny Ric and if I could recall any other sports person having such a sudden, total and seemingly permanent loss of form.

Only one I could think of was Fernando Torres when he left Liverpool for Chelsea. Anyone got any others?

Torres didn’t do too badly at Chelsea he just wasn’t the force he was. Shevchenko was a much bigger flop. Surely Jacques Villeneuve is the go to F1 comparison?
