Posting board games

After a local buyer messed me around with buying my old Hero Quest I'm going to flog it and a bunch of other games on ebay and take advantage of the 80% off option.

I was planning to simply wrap the games in lots of bubble wrap and then brown paper. but am worried that won't be sufficient. What do people here use and are there cheaper options than royal mail?

Bubble wrap and brown paper has served me well for years, yet to have a complaint. For something like Heroquest - where the value is inherently higher - I'd probably source a box from somewhere and put more padding around it. But, yeah, bubble wrap from Wilko's, go around it three times, wrap it up and send it on has been fine.

I've also been using a MyHermes drop off point for a while. Only had one failed/problematic delivery in a decade - unfortunately it was for a boat load of stuff for someone on here, which got subbed out to some bloke in a taxi or something. Very weird.

That packaging works fine for a really robust game box and more cuboidal shaped packages.  I had a problem with a large but flat game (On Mars) which was used as a step to lever something heavy like a crate of wine onto a van (using DPD) and I'm not making the same mistake again.  If your Hero Quest is like the remake I've just received, the box is not the strongest so it would be better if you have an external box.

As for delivery I've used DPD via Parcel Monkey in the past but that doesn't give you any claim if things go wrong.  Anything over 2kg is too expensive for Royal Mail so I'm planning to use Hermes for my next batch of sales - some lockers close by me.

I got rid of 150+ games over the holidays, and to make sure everything arrived in good condition, I just bought a bunch of double wall 12" cube boxes and a huge roll if bubble wrap oft Amazon. Wasn't massively expensive, and I think folks appreciated it.
