Best I could muster up for now.  I'm positive I can crack 1B on this one though.

There's two ways to get big points on Fish Tales:

1. Keep shooting the middle Boat ramps 6 times to light the 6 little fish underneath it and then shoot the left spinner shot for Monster Fish Jackpot (which goes from 20M to 30M to 40M etc).

2. Once in multiball, shoot the right ball lock, then hit the left spinner for jackpot 3 times.  Once you've done this, you can then hit the captive ball in the middle for massive points (100M then 200M etc).

The second strategy is the obvious choice for getting monster scores, but it's extremely difficult to pull off.  Almost managed it once but I ended up draining trying to go for the captive ball. Tournament players usually just go for the first strategy over and over.

Fun, yet frustrating table.

Cannot get anywhere near this since . For me it seems to be the rock the boat feature that gets the scores. The  angles for ball losing are brutal, and mentioned elsewhere !

Fun table, but bloody hard. getting there tho.

I especially like this one cuz it's a Mark Ritchie table, just like Diner the table my dad used to have.

It's super interesting doing these tables every week and getting to learn more about pinball, there's the super deep and complex rule tables and then there are ones like this where it's quite clear what you need to be doing but executing it is so hard.

Yeah, it's great, and because we are choosing 1 table each week you actually get to spend time learning them. I wasn't keen on Pirates but I loved the Getaway and Fish Tales.

We need to do Medieval Madness at some point.

Yes. Yes we do! The GOAT of pinball tables.

Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars, Twilight Zone, Addams Family, Congo, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Tales of the Arabian Nights, Monster Bash, Simpsons Pinball Party, Theatre of Magic, Metallica, Scared Stiff, Whitewater, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Cirqus Voltaire, Guns N Roses, No Good Gofers, Black Rose, Frankenstein, Terminator 2, Judge Dredd, World Cup Soccer, Tales from the Crypt.................

I could go on and on and on.  There are so many unbelievably amazing pinball tables and hopefully these weekly VPX challenges keep going and we get to them all eventually.

I am really enjoying focusing on one table per week as well as it really lets you dive deep into the ruleset and the different strategies to become a better player and try to score those big points.  Fish Tales has now simultaneously become one of my favourite but at the time my most hated tables in pinball.  Never really dove deep into it before.

Next week's tables of choice theme will be....Superheroes :)

Just watched this Fish Tales video, the guy spends over an hour doing a table walkthrough and doing warm up games, then starts his proper game, so epic :)

Fish Tales Let's Play

He's a good watch, very entertaining, kinda looks like a pinball Paul Rudd. Also, it's good to see the pro's have a lot of bad games before they hit those big scores.

I seem to be stuck around 130-140mil, keep waiting on that breakthrough round where I get 2-300million but I seem to massively choke when trying to collect jackpots or just have a knack for losing all three Multiballs in about 10seconds on this table.

Same...super frustrating.  Think I'm done with this one for a while.

I was trying to shoot the trap at the end and hadn’t realised I’d activated Rock the Boat which is super frustrating as that’s easy points but hey, it’s a step up.

What are the table options for next week?

Superhero theme table options for next week:

- Avengers

- Batman (Data East, Dark Knight, Forever)

- Deadpool

- Guardians of the Galaxy

- Iron Man

- Spider-Man

- X-Men

My top three would probably be Deadpool, Spider-Man, Iron Man in that order but happy for you guys to choose.  Will send out proper links tomorrow.

Had a quick play through those, either Deadpool or Batman (Data East) for me. I want to like that Guardians table but the physics feel really floaty, the Deadpool one feels great despite utterly bonkers graphics and I imagine a really complicated system to figure out. The Batman one is also kinda awesome and really novel, plus it has a pin between the flippers which after Fish Tales feels like a miracle.
