Hope people don't mind, but rather than start a new thread for every game I figured I'd just post updates about my fledgling boardgame publishing company here for anyone interested.

 

I've got a new game to announce! Damask, not one of my designs (by a new designer Barbara Burfoot), but heavily developed by me into what it is now. It's a game where you collect thread from a spinning wheel and use it to create silk Damask patterns. I've got some photos below, but will be showing it off at Airecon and hopefully random boardgame cafes in the North.

We're definitely NOT using Kickstarter again thanks to their blockchain nonsense. Trying to get Gamefound to let us use their site to run a campaign but they're currently invite only, leaving us with one option: Indiegogo. Not ideal, and I know we're leaving money on the table not going with KS, but we want to stand by our principles.

Should be, but I intend to have finished the crowdfunding by then (although that plan may change). As for KS, hopefully not, but it's not an easy decision.

I'll be backing anyway as I have faith it will be good. UKGE will probably be out first chance to try it. 😊

I know this will probably apply to nobody here, but I'm going to be demoing the game at Geek Retreat York next Thursday. Not naive enough to think I'll get many people in, maybe a few students, but it should be a way to get some photos and shout a bit more about the game. If anybody does happen to be free in Yorkshire that day please come along!

Got the landing page on the Gamefound to a state I'm happy to share it. I'm going to keep updating it as I go, but would really appreciate people following it and sharing it. Even if you're not going to back it, I get the impression that people are more likely to follow something which already has a lot of followers. I was actually really happy being so close to 300, but then I dared to look at other Gamefound projects which blow my follower count out the water!

Oh man, had a good news/ bad news situation with this yesterday. Good news- got an email from a Ravensburger rep who wanted a copy of the rules. No actual idea what it would mean if they are interested, or even think it will go anywhere, but it's nice to be asked. On the bad news front the person who was going to do the animation for the intro video has been ill and can't do it anymore, which has been an absolute headache considering we launch in under 3 weeks. I'm not even sure how useful those intro videos are, but it's not something I'll be able to learn how to do, so I've instead paid through the nose for someone I don't know to do it instead. Just cross my fingers it turns out okay.

Gah, wanted to share the project page in draft form to get feedback, but annoyingly on gamefound the draft page is visible to everyone who follows you, and is essentially the preview page. They really do have a terrible UI (also discovered gifs don't work, but mp4s do, however if an mp4 is embedded it can't be removed- you have to delete the whole section).

#195 for me, all the best! Great to see the amount of coverage for this during the campaign, a proper level up from your previous campaign which is great to see. 

 

Will pop over at ukge to see what on offer/demo at your table.

Thanks, I'm going to be honest I can't help but be disappointed with the numbers so far. Not sure if it's moving to Gamefound, or the theme not being as appealing, but I've put a lot more into the pre-marketing with this and have an incredibly solid game. Really thought it would be doing better 😐
