All I'm hoping for realistically is this long fabled Metroid Prime upscale thingy or trilogy release. C'mon Nintendo.

Never played it before and I'm too looking forward to this if true.

  1. Nintendo first-party studios are few in number, and likely work on one project at a time - then have some actual R&D time between said projects - before moving onto the next. So the games take a little longer but are often of a far higher quality than most.
  2. Pandemic.

That’s a Nintendo issue and doesn’t absolve them of the criticism. Nintendo have been downsizing studios too much which has affected the quantity of their output, they’re definitely under performing there especially as they expect people to buy their hardware on the strength of their brand alone.

I think people were hoping for lots of games with handheld and home console development focusing on one device but Nintendo saw it as a chance to cut back.

Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot Camp

Bayonetta 3

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Splatoon 3

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

That's their announced lineup for 2022. I'm sure there will be more than that but it's already a solid set of games.

I'd like if we got more experimental new games  like Good Job or Game Maker Garage but I don't think the idea that have cut back or are releasing nothing holds up.

Downsizing? Nintendo and its various partner studios have been pretty stable in terms of the amount of people working there for the past 10/20 years.

You could say that they should have hired more people as they started the switch to HD, but downsizing has not been one of their problems.

If a console was in the middle of its cycle, wouldn't you expect them to be churning out games, rather than, like, fuck all?

have you even seen the piles of cash Nintendo are making.  They don’t care what hardcore gamers that need 5 new games a month want.

I mean Nintendo really need to pull their finger out now if they want to have the leading portable platform for dodgy looking pseudo pornographic weeb anime game shovelware.

Does anyone remember a Nintendo that churned out games?

I'd settle for 3 proper top drawer Nintendo titles a year.

I’m gonna predict Final Fantasy pixel remasters coming to Switch. Squeenix and FF socials have been posting the FFVI release date this past hour or so.

Meh. They should take a leaf out of Dragon Quest III remaster's book imo.

And the NDS remakes of FF III and FF IV were some of the best ever. If they'd only gone the whole way and done FF V and VI as well in that style, I would've died a happy man.

Last year all I turned my Switch on for was Metroid Dread (great), Mario 3D World/Bowser's Fury (also great) and Mario Golf (one of the most sterile, characterless and misguided games Nintendo have ever published). I would have bought Wario Ware but it got a pretty cool reception.

I guess it could be worse but it definitely feels like they're coasting. The days of 2017/18 when they were publishing banger after banger and my Switch was in constant rotation feels a long time ago now.

Predicting what has already been announced is cheating!

They haven’t been announced for Switch.

They haven’t? Eh? Didn’t they do exactly that in the last Direct?

My Switch has been used for at least an hour every single day (without fail, I checked on the app) for more than two years. And I don’t even have Mario Golf or WarioWare.

EDIT: and that doesn’t take into account time played on my old Switch since getting the OLED - it still gets used when the OLED is in use by someone else.

I'm calling it. They're bringing back that heartbeat sensor periphal, but now with oximeter.

Lung Heath Fitness Game. Big Breath Academy.

Tie in with the Book of Boba Fett: Let’s  Bacta Tank! Wear the heartbeat sensor and keep Boba’s heart rate steady while he has exciting dreams about sand people.

Also from the Book of Boba Fett: Super Bombad Racing 2: we are the mods (we are, we are the mods). Battle sharp suited teenagers in slow moving scooter races around Mos Vespa. Locks at 15FPS when the Switch is docked to simulate your favourite chase sequence from the TV series.

Yeah, that's an outstanding lineup of titles, anything on top of that would be gravy.

Yeah, there’s been no downsizing or anything like that reported on! They’ve also only just acquired Next Level Games!
