This is so simple yet so amazing. Moving around trying to avoid all of the baddies while auto firing 6 weapons feels great, especially when you have a setup that lets you just plow right into the hordes.

 

I finally got my first wins last night after 12 hours of play. I'd been mostly playing hyper mode because I liked how much quicker it was and managed to win with the guy who has a resurrection but that felt a bit cheaty. After beating hyper mode I read something that said how the mobs are tougher, which explains why I was struggling to win, even with 6 evolved weapons. After that I went back to non hyper mode and cleared it all fairly easily.

I'm starting to think that garlic is a little bit of a trap, it's amazing early on but once you get past about 25 minutes I find it simply doesn't cut it.

I've found that garlic early on is great but tails off after a while, max garlic and bible on the other hand is great

I've only really been using it for very awkward early builds that have a lot of random/untargeted attacks or otherwise make it hard to either survive the early bat swarms or at least get enough xp from them to continue the run effectively.

 

Most of the unlocks I have left I think are leaning towards those weapons (axes, lightning, runetracer etc) so a garlic or two early on would help there. Bible is probably better overall but takes a few levels to become effective imo.

Aside from being good to aid with quick levelling in the early game, Garlic also causes enemies to take increased knockback from all sources. Getting hearts back with Soul Eater is also nice.

I just made nearly 3k gold in a single run.  😆

 

1.4k in the run itself, then 500 coins for maxing out Garlic and Santa and something else.  It was crazy towards the end...the only options I was getting for going up a level was 50 gold coins or 'floor chicken', giving me some health back.  Mortaccio is great.  🦴

I've finished all three stages of this, and after about 22 minutes my poor laptop just can't handle the amount of shit that's being asked of it! I do wish the game gave you a little more info on the weapon evolutions, as the game is basically unplayable without them.

Interesting run earlier on Green Acres. Managed to cheat death a bit at the end because I had 2 revives left over and he was getting time-frozen:

Been enjoying this too, even my tired old laptop can run it fine.  Cleared Green Fields this morning, and had a rosary smart bomb waiting for Death at 30 minutes....  i think it made him pause for half a second before he caught me!  

Upgraded Bible seems to be solid for survival.  I cannot get on with the birds although streamers and Reddit seem to be big fans.

for me the issue with the birds is I have no idea what they are actually doing.

I just had a really good library run, Bible, Whip, axe, Wand all evolved plus rune tracer and laurel. I hardly got touched and even if a monster got through I had laurel and if that fails you have the whip to heal yourself.

I've got into birds the last day or two when you fully upgrade them they join up and free a weapon slot, it can give you another chance to get a weapon that would round out your build. Also, if your accessory slots are full, you can still take the stone mask on the library stage, the game adds it onto the end of the line. There's one off to the right that seems to always spawn and I think there's the book off to the left somewhere.

Is it just me or is the library stage significantly easier than the forest? The library gives you a free level as soon as you start, 2 extra items and it may just be my imagination but I think the monsters in the forest have more HP.

I found the library easier, you don't tend to get caught on the scenery either. I just went for the achievement to get 5k in a run, and I think I can tick that off

I had a maximum birb run the other day and the enemies couldnt even get onscreen, let alone near me. Had a perfectly good vespers and garlic aura sat there utterly redundant.

Thunder loop is really good, does a ton of damage.

The evolved Santa water and lightning ring are both great. While garlic does tail off near the end it gives you so much power up until the 25 minute mark where you can just run into hordes of most monsters and just one shot them all which is great for getting those levels up.

Bah, I spent a good while on my last few runs trying to find the item combo to unlock the lightning evolution, before giving up and consulting the wiki to find it didnt have one yet (last two items for me to unlock are boring passives).

 

Also, yeah, I might be misremembering but I think evolved garlic might have been the run I had that absolutely shredded until my perimeter just collapsed at 29:50. Might have just not had the right support weapons though.

Do you mean the Lightning ring evolution? you need the duplicator for it which is great as that is an item I always want to get anyway.

So EVERYONE has been talking about it this week but I have a policy never to buy early access games.

 

So I played this on itchio for a few minutes.

 

And then bought it. It's the only thing I've been playing for the past day. My partner is really annoyed because she wants me to play FF14 and instead I've been playing "that ugly thing."

 

Game of 2022 already. I hope he gets enough takers at $3 to hire some artists.
