That's a phrase that I've seen around, but I've never actually known what it means (and still don't).

Still, I'll keep playing until the thing happens :)

I keep hammering on about it, but just keep unlocking stuff. More unlocks come from the unlocks so keep unlocking locked stuff until the locked stuff you want I unlocked.

Out of interest, how do you unlock the secret characters on the controller that require keyboard inputs?

At some point

Spoiler

You unlock a "secrets" menu that has an alpha numeric code input doofer. I tried to do one this morning as it tells you to enter a code but I couldn't get it to trigger. I am an actual idiot though.

If you want to unlock toastie on Xbox without a keyboard (no idea if that works), you can…

Spoiler

…type in tramezzini in the secret menu where you can enter spell codes

Smith IV can be unlocked via…

Spoiler

…typing in maybeimastallion

Also, here’s something that you can do to have more than 6 weapons if you have the shop…

Spoiler

Don’t use the shop until you have 5 weapons collected from fighting on the map - then go into the shop and buy all the weapon inventory. Think this means you can have 9 weapons total from memory.

I thought it locked out additional weapons as you filled slots from the map? Unless this changed I guess.

Spoiler

I’m not sure if it’s my save being buggy but it worked for me still earlier in the week. Not entirely convinced my save is alright, as I’ve heard no one else mention the Random health/tarot combo I discovered.

I'm not getting the evolved thing. Is it just maxing out a weapon on a run, or does it change the weapon for every run. I've evolved two of them but can't see any difference.

What's the combination thing as well? I've unlocked the "this plus this equals this" on pause thing but, again, this doesn't seem to do anything.

The thing plus thing is the requirements for evolving. Get the weapon to it's highest level, make sure you have it's counterpart item, then get a chest off of a 'boss' enemy.

One of the characters is a 1, not an L or an i.

Ah right. Not sure I'm living long enough to do this kind of thing just yet. Though I managed to get to level 52 on the second stage last night. I'm presuming pouring money into the upgrades is the way forward? The health recovery one is a literal life saver.

Not sure if I should spiller this or not:

Spoiler

I found the coffin on the second level. Presumably there are more of these throughout the various stages?

Enjoying playing this with my son. With literally only needing the thumbstick, he can do pretty well on this. Especially now we've unlocked the garlic fella, so the early enemies can't touch him.

This is awesome clap, clap clapclapclap. This is awesome clap, clap clapclapclap.

The second stage is great for just slaughtering thousands of enemies, working out how to evelove things and what weapons work. Definitely ditching the garlic, it's no use 20-odd minutes in and I want to get to 30 minutes. Going for bibles next.

I've said it a few times but Garlic may feel good to start but sack it off quickly for evolved Santas Water and King Bibles as your defence choices. You will quickly then get to a point where just those two will be getting you through 30 minute runs easily and you can adjust and mess with builds from there. Early game it can feel abit weak but the two combined is an incredible base to build from.

For all this talk of builds I’ve found you can make almost anything work.  Garlic is really good for getting rolling early and you can get evolved weapons pretty quick if you are levelling up a lot in the first five minutes.   I like the crazy projectile builds, the one I’ve just had was my most effective yet.  I think it was Magic Wand, Fire Wand, Rune Tracer, Phiera Der Tuphello & Eight The Sparrow all evolved then the Bible for AOE.  I’ll take water a lot just because Attract Orb is so useful.  After about twenty minutes I was doing this and after thirty my character was just levelling up every few seconds.  I think it ended on Level 135 in the end.

I have now, yes.  But the trick is just in getting evolutions early as far as I can tell because they just allow you to snowball along.  The Magic Wand is great at the start for example as you can get four or five levels in the first couple of minutes with it.   I’m in the process of mopping up stuff now and have finally had a run with the Pentagram which is pain in the arse to the point of hindrance for the first ten minutes but once you evolve it? Boom!

That's bonkers. I'm nowhere near that at such a low level. Is it an element of luck in getting things in the right order or what?

Presumably you've done all the power ups (is this what they're called, the speed, health etc. from the main menu) to start with?

Nah, you can get this shit well before you max out the stats you buy. Character sometimes plays a part in it. Go through the unlock menu and just start getting stuff, and just go for evolutions that you like. It all comes together pretty quickly.
