I guess if there is no time limit then you could always impose your own (though it'd be tricky to choose an appropriate one)

Still not the same though - I for one will miss the pressure.

An option of an imposed time limit would be good.

Pikmin? Stressful? Ha!

Getting 25 pieces in 30 days was easy.

Getting 25 pieces in 15 days was more fun :(

I think that's why Miyamoto put the time limit in, to stop people fiddling about on one hand but also offering a challenge to people who loved the game.

If you had no time limit the game would be a walk in the park. Build up a full squad, tackle a beastie, get the part, and repeat. No element of not going headstrong and trying not to get everyone killed so you don't have to go back to the pods for reinforcements. That wouldn't be much of a 'game'.

I didn't mind the time limit, I just made use of the save function if I wasted a day. So long as you average 1 piece per day, you're on track for all 30. Simple. And no-one tell me that's cheating, since the day limit WILL cause you to lose the first time through, unless you're lucky!

I adore Pikmin and those screenshots look lovely. Pikmin 2 is probably the game I'm most looking forward to at the moment.

I like the way he was compared in size to Gamecube peripherals in the instruction manual. ;)

Me too, it was in the text next to that I got the 50p size estimate. (Well it says he has about the same height as a 50p piece). I love the localisation of using pence. No, not dollars, not even euros, but PENCE. Ace.

.::: I disliked the time limit initially, but a bit of clever thinking and it's not really a limit anymore. Seriously. Thrity days is a long time in that game.

Still I think they should have focused more on puzzles instead (as in the final levels).

Course they do, you bloody play as one.

You call those people humans? ;)

Personally I can't wait for this to be released. I managed to get all 30 ship parts in 29 days on my first go, and after that, there wasn't much replay value left. At all. So, roll on Pikmin 2, and "OH MY GOD".

Miyamoto came up with the idea when he was in his garden, right? It was meant to be a relaxing sort of game, but the time limit made it really stressful. I got really worried about not getting enough in a day and in the end I just got fed up with being so stressed. It's the complete opposite of what it was trying to be - and the funny thing is, very few people recognise it. Still, there's the Nintendo sychophants for you.

Bang-on, Ed. It was a worthy failure in my book, as well. I remember the very first press release for the sequel practically screamed NO TIME LIMITS at you. I'm actually really looking forward to this one, with that irritating obstacle removed.
