Maybe I'm easily pleased but on second viewing I'm still not fussed about the CG. It was some time around the giant mechanical fish coming out of the sky in the Avengers when I conceded that the MCU films are mostly animated anyway. I just hope that the quirky slice of life stuff doesn't take a back seat to whatever the pre-vis unit has been ordered to come up with.

The original origin was that she had a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner (Her cousin) who was the only blood match. Maybe this is just him showing her how to control her powers (something it took him years to learn)?

Going by the comics, Hulk is in fact one of the deepest and most uniquely interesting characters in Marvel comics. But they've squandered his potential in the MCU and after Moon Knight I suspect there's no hope of them ever turning it around (moon knight spoilers):

They bloody gave his origin to Moon Knight. In the comics, Bruce Banner was traumatized as a kid by his abusive father who was convinced he was a mutant monster - he wasn't, Bruce was just a gifted smart kid. Bruce developed DID as a way to cope with this unrelenting abuse, leading to different alters representing different aspects of his personality. While Bruce himself bottled up his emotions (because anger is what made his dad beat him and eventually kill his mother), the green savage Hulk is Bruce as a kid, wanting to be left alone but also searching for acceptance and friends. Gray Hulk is what kid Bruce imagined a strong adult who doesn't get hurt should be, also the one able to make tough decisions doing what needs to be done - hence it was this persona in the comics that saved Jennifer's life by giving her a blood transfusion despite the risk (a risk the Bruce persona would never take). Immortal/Devil Hulk is the caring father figure he didn't have in real life. Etcetera etcetera. The Hulk was always there, all the gamma bomb did was give his various alters their own physical outward shape.

 

After giving a heavily watered down version of the classic Planet Hulk storyline to Thor in Ragnarok, they went and gave his origin to Moon Knight. This to me is a sign that they're going to do jack shit with the character, because if they tried to tell his story in a future film, audiences would just complain that they're imitating/regurgitating Moon Knight.

 

 

 

As much as I enjoyed the Moon Knight show, this had my eyes rolling more than a ball of furniture in Katamari Damacy.

Finally got round to watching the trailer ... looks terrible, and some of the comments in the Dr Strange thread about Marvel having a problem with women ring truer here. Also those effects are atrocious, almost as bad as the effects in Attack of the Clones.

I honestly think you're looking for problems there Lisa Simpson. If anything this will appeal to horny chuds, that last shot in the trailer is laser targeted at a certain demographic.

 

Also lol at holding Disney up as any kind of bastion of progressiveness.

Looks great. I can't decide how much of the face stuff is wonky CG, and how much is my brain battling against the uncanny valley because she still looks mostly human but obviously not. That aside, the tone is absolutely hitting for me.

CGI looks a bit better, but I think the thing that bothers me most is how normal she looks. I know She-Hulk is nowhere near as ripped as Hulk, but she’s still muscular. In this it just looks like she gets taller when she changes.
