Great, first two posts of the thread combined basically demanding a completely different game.

Honestly thought the third was going to be looking forward to them ditching lightsabers.

Never change rllmuk.

I'm sorry for hoping that the next game won't contain the admittedly short but worst aspects of the first, some of which were obviously there to give the old hardware time to load new sections from a rotating magnetic platter.

Definitely in for this, though a bit disappointed they’ve gone for the same poncho-wearing poindexter as the protagonist. He’s such a twat.

Nah. Cal's a good dude, and I welcome him back with open arms.

Nice teaser trailer. I generally hate them, but this one teases just enough not to feel like the usual waste of time.

So disappointing to see Respawn churning out Star Wars stuff. Just give me Titanfall 3 please :(

To be fair, Fallen Order is really good! I’m very happy to see a sequel.

Fallen Order any good? Never played it.

Excellent, I believe it’s had a next gen update of sorts, or at least a 60fps mode, so there’s never been a better time to play it if you have the hardware, but I originally played it on a base PS4 and really enjoyed every moment. It’s not perfect but it’s a damn fine video game.

I know and you're right, I did enjoy what I played of it - I'm juts sick and fed up of Star Wars. It's everywhere and it's rubbish.

My favorite bit of Fallen Order was arriving at a save point, being immediately dumped into a fairly difficult battle, and then having a daft sliding down ice QTE segment before the next save point.

So I guess I miss another Star Wars game with the same mechanics here. Great.

You should be directing your complaints at the $3 Billion revenue internally developed Respawn shooter that has soaked up all their design talent, rather than this game which had mostly different staff hired to make it. That and all the staff who pissed back off to Infinity Ward, probably because they didn't want to make that shooter for Respawn and would rather make more CoD.

The first game was decent enough for a licensed title.

Edit - though the also mentioned unannounced FPS game might have some promise if the design team behind Modern Warfare are working on it, some potential classic set-pieces. Peter Hirschmann leading it doesn't exactly scream dead cert though.

Fallen Order’s opening stage is great, then it’s tutorial’ level is incredibly boring.

The game begins to open up after that and then — once you have to revisit worlds — is which is where it fell apart from me.

Having to cross the whole map (the 3D map is not good )to get to the next point of interest seemed really stupid to me, especially when — with no warning— you’d turn a corner and enter a mini-boss battle with some Jedi killers or some shit that weren’t there before.

it was such a let down after TF2’s impeccable mission and level structure.

I loved Fallen Order, but there are a few things that could be improved, like the map (a better way of indicating areas you can't access due to lacking the right skill would be good for starters), less slides (some were okay but they wore thin very quickly) and those random locked-room encounters with the bounty hunters can fuck right off.

At the risk of having to turn in my Star Wars fan card, were we supposed the recognise the person in the tank? They way they built up the reveal made me think so, but I have no idea who that is.

I really liked Fallen Order, and if anything, enjoyed it more replaying it earlier this year. There are quite a few things I’d want them to change in the sequel (better feedback on parries, a more readable map, less sliding, more consistency in general in map design, etc), but the original got so much right. There aren’t many Star Wars games that nail the lush, matte painting look of the films to quite the extent that Fallen Order did.

It'll be interesting to see whether they make you earn your powers again, or just start you off with a full suite and make you earn a few more. I thought Cal Kestis worked really well as a protagonist the first time round, as his gangly frame and slightly awkward movement really sold the idea that he was basically a kid with some talent but with very little training, up against an entire army of Jedi-killers. I wonder if they’ll make his body language a bit more confident and headstrong this time round.

If they can try and summon the will power to not put fucking Wookies in the thing then it will be a significant improvement. They looked awful in Fallen Order. They look awful in everything.

No one likes wookies, aside from Chewie.

They are always getting into the worst trouble and considering how strong and tough they are supposed to be, they suck so much all the time.

All. The. Fucking. Time.

Wankers.

Fixed that for you.

I think it’s a good but not great game. It starts off fooling you into thinking it’s Star Wars Uncharted, but in reality it’s more like Star Wars Dark Souls. If you approach it like the latter you’ll have a lot more fun with it in my opinion. Don’t be afraid to turn down the difficulty so you can feel like a proper Jedi. The main villain is really well done in my opinion.

The sequel could be pretty special if they tighten up some of the issues mentioned above. Get rid of the slidey  sections for a start. If they made it feel like Sekiro it could be immense.

I did that because I didn’t like him. Had him do the deed and then pointedly left him out of every squad through to the end of the game lol.

Think I just talked myself into getting excited about the KOTOR remake for the first time.

I played Control not long after Fallen Order, and thought the Jedi-like powers you had in that game were much better realised than the ones in FO.

Even when fully levelled up in FO it felt like I could only push a couple of stormtroopers off a ledge before my energy ran out.

It was a good game, but I'd love to see more powerful force abilities in the next one
