Man Vs Bee (Netflix : Rowan Atkinson)

This looks great, in an age where TV shows are getting a bit too complex for us to process such as Severance where we are trying to figure out what's going on, it's lovely to see something more straight forward. 9 ten minute episodes of a bee creating various antics. Not 1 hour 18minutes per episode like Stranger Things, no just ten condensed minutes with no fat. Just lean curated goodness that isn't afraid to get straight to the point.

This is what the world has been crying out for, I give you, Man Vs Bee.

  • Capwn changed the title to Man Vs Bee (Netflix : Rowan Atkinson)

I got excited when I saw the title and thought it was going to be Adam Richman trying to eat his bodyweight in bees whilst a crowd whopped and cheered him on.

It was disappointing to see a poor CGI bee playing home alone with Blackadder's grandad.

I genuinely believe Limmy should do a challenge where he streams himself watching this and tries not to laugh. Would make a great stream.

This is absolutely awful. Stunned into silence at how bad honestly, being stuck in with covid and little else to watch we plowed through all of the wretched thing.

I bet you laughed a few times, go on, admit it

Man vs Bee 2, bring it on! Could also change it up, some ideas...

Man vs Fly

Man vs Spider

Man vs Baby

Man vs Monkey

So much potential here

OK Limmy. You just sit there ripping the pish out of things in front of the same 2000 cunts that watch your sad arse every day. Tit.

Jeez, where did that come from?

I've watched the first two "episodes". Who are they trying to kid, and why? This is a film.

It's dreadful.

It occupies that spot between realism and fantasy that feels so unconvincing that it's an insult to the viewer's intelligence.

Everything that happens is so clearly signposted that there's very little surprise in what happens.

The slapstick is nothing on bean.

I smirked at one point. Maybe there's something else in the film that I'd smirk at, but so far it's just not funny.

Mark Kermode's review of this is a fascinating example of someone managing to talk about something else entirely (in this case the mechanical nature of the production in physical comedy), without actually talking about whether it's any good or not.

They'd had Atkinson on for interview beforehand it seems, and Kermode was phoning into the studio by video link, so it all looked really pointedly like Kermode was just trying to avoid the whole thing.

I watched the first episode and was immediately reminded of the Inside No. 9 episode 'A Quiet Night In' - that was a masterclass in silent, physical comedy where the unexpected happens constantly. This felt pretty tired and predictable in comparison, so far at least. But I'll probably watch it all with my youngest as he loves this sort of thing.

Big fans of Bean and Johnny English so we were looking forward to this. Kids enjoyed it, we did to for the first few episodes. Unfortunately Atkinson's character is just too stupid/insane for the physical comedy to come through.

10 minutes episodes was a nice change, but would have rather new episodes of Mr Bean.

Watched this with the kids at the weekend and we enjoyed it. It clearly was meant to be a film, right down to the cuts at the end of each episode but it was decent for what it was. Animated Bean is still the best thing Atkinson has done in years though, now that is genuinely great.

Achingly unfunny wank. Watched the first Ep, honestly never smiled once, but then I find Bean utterly unfunny too. Genuinely baffled how anyone finds this amusing. Every single gag is set up so painfully obviously that there is literally zero surprise at any of the supposed slapstick. Fucking awful/10.

Strong agree from me.  Seeing the setup so telegraphed for every joke just kills it.  This is why Hitchcock didn't make comedies.  I love slapstick but this is mostly just gurning.

I also hate Mr Bean so I may just be a miserable old cunt.
