Whoops!

In what's turning into a terrible week for Geordie Arabia, the guarantee that the Saudi government has no influence over the club has taken a hit when their lawyers admitted a Newcastle director is a government minister in another sports washing affair, this time in the world of golf.

It's all ok though. Because you use twitter or something.

Surely not. The Saudi investment fund, being directed by Saudi government, who basically owns it? Surely they wouldn't be facto be owners of the football club they bought, surely?

Arsenal. Will they be top Billing on MOTD tonight?

2-0. It's over for them. What a shame, City will grind it out now with guts, determination, and all that cheaty money they spent.

Maybe just wait until the matches finish?

What are the lottery numbers tonight please? 😛

This has every chance of becoming absolutely iconic if Arsenal do pull this off and win the title.

As good as the goal is, I think I actually prefer the chaos of the aftermath, with the cameraman losing track of who scored and instead watching Saliba assaulting a flag.

The absolute best thing though, is that when he kicks the flag, it springs back and hits him in the nuts.

Like I said, iconic.

Happy to report I don't want Man City to win anything, so this clearly 100% worked.

Viera should be getting a little uncomfortable surely...

After that shitshow,I hope he's feeling something and not going to give us his usual, casual "We have to be better at ataking our chances"

No shots on target, and at the 85th minute only 4 touches in the Villa box.

We have City, Brighton and Arsenal next and aso far have been lucky that the teams below us keep shitting the bed so we reamain 6 points clear.

We have an "easier" run in than most, but these could all be teams fighting for their lives and we have zero heart or bite at all.

I thought you supported Palace and not West Ham?

I know you support Palace. Disgruntled West Ham fan.

The "at least we aren't West Ham" comfort is all I have left.

There’s so much going on, but it’s the joy and relief shown by Ødegaard and (especially) Gabriel that got me; the former is almost immediately flat on his back, screaming at the sky, whereas the latter seems to fall to his knees and, judging by the way he’s wiping his face when he congratulates Nelson, burst into tears.

Honourable mentions obviously go to Ben White shithousing the ‘keeper, and the cameraperson being confused enough by who’d actually scored that they follow Saliba instead of Nelson, so that we get to see him get hit in the nuts by the corner flag.

While I think Southampton and Bournemouth will go down, at the moment it could be any 3 from the bottom 9 bar maybe Wolves who seem to be getting their act together a bit (and maybe Forest).

Everyone else down there looks a right mess.

I fear that Forest might get sucked back into it.  I hope not because I really want them to stay up, but even though they put together a bit of a run after the World Cup, they often seemed to pick up those wins via a lot of luck.  I don't know the stats, but I suspect they're outperforming their xG.  The Leeds match is an example - they were battered for the whole match and relied on a brilliant performance by Navas and some poor finishing by Leeds, and they ended up winning 1-0 because Brennon Johnson scored a great goal.  They don't seem able to get any control defensively, and keep getting bailed out by their keepers.  Both Henderson and Navas have at times seemed to be holding opponents at bay single-handedly.  I suppose the fact that they have Johnson and Gibbs-White, so they have a bit of creativity and a goal threat further up the pitch might help them.

Yeah, there's a lot of fun stuff going on, but I do think Ben White as usual acted like a complete prick.  Not even in a way that benefits his team by winding up the opposition like you might get from Neil Maupay or Andy Robinson.  I think that's his genuine personality and he's just an absolute knob.  He's one of my most disliked players in the Premier League at the moment.  I mean he's so stupid he managed to get himself sent home from a World Cup in which he'd barely scraped into the squad due to injuries, because he had a fight with the assistant manager.  And his fake tan looks ridiculous.  Anyway, bizarre Ben White rant over.

They are outperforming their xg, which is just under 1 per game, by scoring 2.5 per game. (https://footystats.org/clubs/nottingham-forest-fc-211)

I think there are teams who are worse than Forest though. Everton, Bournemouth, West Ham, Southampton and Leeds are all struggling and regardless of new managers, with the exception of West Ham, I think they're all going to continue their poor form.

This is all completely fair, and I’m sure that if he played for anyone else I’d probably hate him, but he doesn’t, so I love him; he’s got ‘Arsenal cult hero’ written all over him. If you don’t happen to be a gooner you can probably drop the ‘hero’ and switch out one of the other letters though.

Oh, and I’ve also now noticed the steward who gets a bit carried away in the aftermath of the Nelson goal too; in the unlikely event that Arsenal should somehow win the league (and I won’t believe it until I see them lifting the trophy), then this feels like a game and goal that’ll be remembered forever.

I like Ben White too. Didn’t really like football and only started playing because his mum’s hairdresser took him to play, as his family had zero interest in the game. Seems a pretty clued up and decent guy off the pitch.

As for how relegation dogfights go, Leicester may well be dragged into one. Iheanacho has reverted to his ‘couldn’t hit a barn door phase’, Vardy offers little and Daka looks a step below the Premiership. We don’t look like scoring without Maddison and Tielemans is now out for 5 weeks. And when you have Danny Ward in goal it must give the opposition a boost.

I get why he might wind you up but I absolutely love it. Neto wasted time from the start. Punched White on the back at a corner. I get why White might want to wind him up too.

Think that Vardy is looking done at this level?

Unfortunately yes. I thought leading with Iheanacho/Daka this season with Vardy coming on as a 20 minute impact sub would work well but it hasn’t. I don’t think the move to 5 substitutions has helped him either; has meant opposition can more easily bring on replacement defenders if they’re looking leggy, I further reduces his potential impact.

Also when Maddison is out we lack creativity. I wouldn’t be surprised if his wife’s court case has taken more out of him than just cash.

Club and league legend; he might be a scrote but he’s our scrote.

Next weekend - none of the bottom 9 are playing each other
