Absolute joke of a goal given to West Ham there after one of their players set it up like a volleyball player. The handball rule is ludicrous.

Yep. West Ham fan and that is 100% a handball; not even in question.

Absolutely bizarre decision.

If he does that and it goes straight in then it's ruled out - but because two other players touched it then it's fine. Stupid rule. An absolute fuck up.

Is Hamus still rumoured to be Neg or is that someone else?

Anyway, Newcastle were after Emery back before they ended up with Eddie Howe weren't they?. Didn't get him though obviously. I'm hoping that's because he (Emery) has principles about where he works rather than anything else. And I say that as a Novocastrian who is enjoying the teams recent run of form.

I'm sorry but that's not true in the slightest. He didn't have the force of personality to imprint a style on the team and the football was absolutely dreadful. The fans were good to him for ages until it all fell apart. Nice enough bloke but everything in his career so far suggests he's a good cup manager with the fatal character flaw of choking when it comes to the crunch. The two big jobs he's had didn't work for him as he's too worried about nullifying the other team and reacting with loads of needless tinkering and confusion. He didn't fail because the fans gave him a hard time, he was just a poor choice from the moment he was mentioned for the job.

Needed just 5 points in total from an end-of-season run of Palace, Wolves, Leicester, Brighton, and Burnley to qualify for the CL.

Got 4 points.

Emery apparently turned down Newcastle on a couple of points - he wasn't sold on the project and there was some talk about him wanting to stay near his family or something. I guess a year later with his contract running down and a good wage he fancied a new Villa for the collection.

Ok I didn't know that @Chindie but I always thought of the fella as a decent guy treated badly at Arsenal.

I hope he can make a difference at Villa and get his fucking revenge against those who doubted him back in the day. He only ever seemed like a good bloke to me.

I support the team, not the regime.

I think perhaps the best thing that could come out of the Newcastle experiment is the next England manager.

Southgate may cling on to the next Euros and then EH may be ready to step up.

In an actual cup final against one of the shittest Chelsea sides in recent memory he kept the score below five too. He was probably hard done by on reflection.

Emery has two of his first games against Man United one in the league plus a cup game. Didn’t Gerrard have a similar start when he took over?

Surely every manager starts with numerous games against Man U given they play them in every cup every year.

I know he sometimes divides opinion (and those who don't like him are wrong) but Squires is absolutely brilliant this week and a must read.

Glad it got picked up on. It's happening every week now. Can't believe Forest of all fan bases went in with that the chanting.

Not all fans and all that, but still enough to be heard clearly
