Agreed, when I heard I was ashamed of my hometown, I'd heard stories of Forest fans who were there that day as a kid and always felt that generation of fans emphasized with Liverpool fans.

I do think though that how things unfolded afterwards were very much down to the attitude towards Scousers though and that other fans would have received more sympathy.

Oof, that Squires strip is powerful stuff. It's pretty disgusting that fans weaponise it (and also those that sing about the Munich disaster vs Man Utd, do people do anything nasty regarding the Bradford fire?) and think they are funny/clever/it's "banter". I genuinely don't understand why signing about people dying when just wanting to watch a football match has ever been considered a thing to do, for what purpose?

People are just awful.

Herd mentality and alcohol (and whatever else) don’t help. Plus, every pocket of fans that does it think they’re the first. Same as singing sign-on and ‘feed the scousers’*. Just dullards that wouldn’t say boo to a goose if they were on their own, too comfortable hiding among a mob.

Have a memory from days being on the Kop seeing a dickhead singing Munich songs getting sorted out pretty sharpish. Not that those songs have completely disappeared, and again it’s usually by packs of idiots sharing a couple of brain cells, but think most fans do think it’s abhorrent.

Edit: *or any other song used for cheap point scoring by any set of fans; obviously such things are not just directed at Liverpool.

I saw some Forest fans claiming that the chants they were singing were actually about Heysel. Absolute pricks. In what situation is it acceptable to be singing about any tragedy as 'banter'. Plus we all know what they were really singing about anyway.

Haaland is City’s only relatable penalty taker. Whenever I see Mahrez take one he always seems to miss.

The James Webb telescope was actually launched to track some of his misses in the name of science.

No disciplinary action being taken in the Henderson/Jesus incident.

No one heard the comments that were allegedly made. I hope it can be put to bed, but I don't doubt it will follow Henderson around still in some circles.

Here's hoping it was just Geordie being lost in translation to Portuguese. Not because Henderson is a Liverpool player, but because it just seemed so out of character for a person who has been a prominent face for equal rights.

You've got the wrong Gabriel there.

As a formerly hirsute individual, I well know the pain of being mistaken for Jesus. A girl in a nightclub once spotted me and blessed herself.

Awful statement implying the alleged victim is a liar or the accused is guilty but not proven…

I know he sometimes divides opinion (and those who don't like him are wrong) but Squires is absolutely brilliant this week and a must read.

I doubt a Sunderland lad would take kindly to being called Geordie.

Frustrating watching Leicester so far in this game.

I have no issue with their setup when City have the ball approaching the final third. They are organised and disciplined.

However there have been four times now where the ball has gone back to Laporte or Akanji for example into the City half.

Both Vardy and Maddison could put a press on and force City to play quicker. Instead Vardy saunters up to the ball carrier whilst Maddison just holds position.

As a pair they need Vardy to press hard and Maddison to be on to one of the potential ball receivers in a flash.

Commit to one and sure the pass goes wherever, but you force a decision.

Whereas they just let City walk it into the Leicester half at ease.

Make the press and you might get lucky and win the ball high. Even if it is played through you can still get back into the positions taken up during the next phase.

When setting up like Leicester are, the forward players have to be the ones to be positive and try things, because having 8 behind the ball being disciplined means no one else can break ranks to do it.
