I want one of those. What did you pay for it? I'm hoping it'll drop to about £250.

£320.  I think it's been lower, and I'm sure it'll drop as the next gen x3d chips near release.

I just got a 2080S! All my graphics look lush! How much more graphics do I need?

@Meers changes his GPU's as often as his socks! :D

Yeah and I blame peer pressure! From my ACC peers! And leave my socks out of this. 😅

What's the going rate on a 3080 these days? 🤑

I have been reliably informed by my wife that buying that graphics card is not in my long term interest. Prob best I listen to her.

You just turn around and you tell her it'd be considerably cheaper than drawing up the papers for a divorce.

And then start to cry, stamp your feet and run out of the house screaming 'YOU HATE MEEEEEE'.

It is a crazy amount of money, but it's the most impressive tech I've ever owned. Sorry 77" C1, Steam Deck, Nutribullet and Major Morgan.

The 4090 is incredible. I've been playing all afternoon and every game runs like butter. Not a toggle lowered*. Cyberpunk and The Witcher 3 look superb, Forza Horizon 5 at 4K 120 is a treat. Late now, so time to fire up Dead Space. Confident it'll be a match for any game in the next couple of years too.

If you love PC gaming you won't be disappointed.

ReBAR

Spoiler

*EDIT. There is still one thing to mess with, though It's not 4090 specific, more Nvidia in general. It's ReBAR. It's a bit of a mess atm, only whitelisted for certain games that Nvidia have gotten around to. Some games benefit greatly from ReBAR but it can hinder others. Anyway, the 4090 basically negates the need to fiddle but I can't help myself. Now that it's basically fire and forget I need to wean myself off the fiddling. All good fun really.

There is a way to enable ReBAR per game to test out, to see if it's better with ReBAR on or off. Nvidia Profile inspector allows this and has a list of games you can try, then allow it on every launch if you get gains from said game with ReBAR. So, no need for a global setting which could hinder rather than help. Just tried it with Dead Space and it's a pretty large uplift. Extra 5fps on FH5 too (lol)

Like I say, with a 4090 it's not really needed due to it smashing everything anyway, but if you're on a lower card then it could be worth a mess. Wish Nvidia gave it a bit more attention tbh. I'm only having a quick play around and will probably just stop and let Nvidia hopefully up there game and do a lot more testing for their whitelist.

It is surplus for the 4090 atm, so I think I'll leave looking into it until further down the line.

I put one in my basket but chickened out.  Too many expense’s at the mo.  Will definitely get one later in the year if I can hold out.

Well, if you can hold out you can buy the 4090ti and be our new overlord.

Scan/DPD seem to have ignored my choice of the Sunday slot, and are delivering this morning 😀

Luckily it's scheduled for a time just before I head out.  Just need the driver not to fuck around!!

If it helps anyone's decision to get one, I've had to check the settings in Flight Sim at least twice since I installed it on Wednesday because the frame rate was so high I assumed I'd accidentally set something lower than Ultra

Yes, this happened to me too!

I picked Monday delivery and they only went and delivered it this morning.

Got loads of house shit to sort though before I can install it (we just moved).

Same issue with not being able to close the panel, waiting for one of these to come out. Link says end of February is when they will start shipping (hopefully)

https://store.cablemod.com/12vhpwr-angled-adapter/

It's so unsatisfying, this big hydra of fuck ugly cables sticking out 🤮

I also have the proper 12vhpwr cable on the way from cablemod, got it with their configurator and you can select your exact PSU to make sure it matches. So eventually it will all come together, and cablemod will get very rich off of 4090 owners

I've just ordered a Fractal Torrent.  It's got the PSU compartment at the top, so I've also ordered a GPU power extension cable to make sure I can route the cables neatly around the back of the case.
