Nicely taken goal, that.

Johnathon Pearce sounds dead miserable today.

He shouldn't be allowed near commentary. Put him out to pasture with Martin Tyler.

Oh Joe, read the room mate!

The statistic against Sweden was similar and look what happened in semi final. I think England can beat this Germany side who were being cut open regularly by France who then always took too long to make a pass or ran into traffic.

Really hope so. Will need cool heads and courage but fantastic that these Lionesses have the chance to do something really special.

Repeating myself, but it’s brilliant that Wembley is only being used for the final. Feels like a significant, glorious end level for the tournament. Really wish the FA Cup would go back to having just the final at Wembley.

So, Stubhub or Livefootballevents for a resale ticket: legit or likely to be a scam? (Yes, obviously the prices are shocking - £660 for three tickets )

Is there any way to verify it is legitimate without being turned away at the gate?

One of the old reasons the old Wembley was so run down is because it was barely used for anything.  As someone who has passed through Wembley a few times a week for 20 years or so the transformation around the place has been incredible. I get that some people don’t like it, but there’s much more to do there now it isn’t an industrial estate with a big fuckoff stadium in the middle.

As for the game? It’s up for grabs isn’t it? Germany remind me a bit more of England in that they are very organised and rely on magic from a few key players, but they are there for the taking. France’s final ball was disappointing last night, they had lots of potentially dangerous situations but 35 yards from goal they just misplaced passes or under hit through balls. England will see that as a chink in German armour.

I went to Wembley in April for the FA Vase/Trophy as was surprised how much had grown up around it since the last time I went in 2012.

Certainly made me more inclined to go back as while not visiting since 2012 for an England game or anything was mainly down to the trauma of watching Cardiff lose all 3 main domestic finals in a 5 year period and my last England game being wally with the brolly vs Croatia, but it doesn't help that the experience pre match was rubbish. and consisted of sitting in traffic to then have nothing to do outside the ground or having a long walk from somewhere with a pub.

The exception being the FA Cup semi final vs Barnsley where 20 of us rolled off the coach and there was a club charging £10 to get in right by the ground (no idea what/where/if it still exists)- my old man insisted we just went in there despite the entry cost and they were selling bottles of beer really cheap and it was packed with a great atmosphere and some ex City players were there and it was 5 minutes to the turnstiles.

But I digress.

Domestic cup thoughts aside, Wembley will be a perfect setting for Sunday, and looks like it will be reasonably cool for the time of year, so the weather shouldn't interfere with either side's approach. Good to see the Beeb giving the game a full hour of build-up too. Hopefully those lucky enough to have a ticket will get there early and enjoy a really pleasant afternoon without all the ugly scenes that plagued last summer's Euros (unless Brad and Edith storm the face-painting tents!)

90,000 will obliterate the recently-set Euros attendance record too. Must be wonderful in the England camp at the moment, knowing they're part of something so significant.

One thing I haven't considerd, is that the last time we went to Wembley was for the FA Cup Final between City and West Ham pre-pandemic. I could see then.

Is there anywhere to easily get food and what are the stewards like around the area for potentially guiding me into the stadium?

Was last there for Palace Chelsea in the FA Cup (a day early!), and there were LOADS of stewards, and police (the latter probably won't be as needed Sunday)

I'm sure if you mention to someone official at the tube stations on the way in that you need assistance they'll provide info. Bearing in mind, there will be a lot of people visiting for first time, so the place will ideally be set-up as such.

Are you going in via Wembley Park? As you come out, to the right there's Wembley Park Dr with some half-decent places, otherwise if you're there early enough there are plenty of branded restaurants in the shopping mall on the Wembley Arena side of the stadium. We stopped there afterwards to let the crowds go down, which made leaving a bit better. Otherwise, just off Olympic/Wembley Way you've got a Lidl and a Sainsbury's if you want to grab something before heading inside. Food inside is readily available, just Wembley prices innit.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Sainsbury's that will do at a pinch. :) Thanks.

I'm going on Sunday too.  We got our ticket in the initial sale period where England being in the final was but a dream.  I actually thought at the time it might be better us not being in the final so I can relax and enjoy the game more.  I quickly stopped thinking this when the tournament was actually happening.

England vs. Germany is just how it had to be.  I can't visualise us winning but the occasion will go down in history.  I am always a little bit on the verge of happy tears at the moment when I think about seeing this game - the number of people that are going to be there, the prospect of us winning, singing the national anthem.  But mostly this tournament is another step towards righting many wrongs: the fact that women playing football have been treated so badly and are starting to catch up to where they should have been a long time ago.  The spectacle of this final is what they deserve.

I went to the first game at Old Trafford and the crowd noise was immense when Leah Williamson was shown on the big screen in the tunnel.  She couldn't even sing the national anthem or open her eyes because the moment was so overwhelming.  Now she will lead the team out at Wembley.  This is only what these athletes deserve and I am so, so happy that this tournament has caught the imagination of so many.  I truly love this sport (for all its faults) and this tournament has been the best of it.

Probably posted this before but I find it fairly disgusting that any high level sporting events are still enabling rampant touting and profiteering when it's an issue that can be easily and cheaply solved, and indeed has by various other events of similar status and scale. For example, I would guess, based upon my experiences of the systems in use there, that the amount of touting that occurs at Wimbledon or Twickenham is approximately zero.

It seems particularly unforgivable in a sport that is being relatively newly promoted and expanded (to the degree that it is these days - obviously I realise it has existed for decades) and is generally being pitched as a family enterprise, in multiple senses.

It is disgusting, yeah. But not only that, there's the double-whammy of not even knowing if it would be a genuine ticket or not, and the only way to be sure would be to buy it and hope for the best - and no hope of any refund if it goes wrong.

It's thoroughly depressing, especially as I have a friend who is desperate to take her young daughter, for whom the tournament has really got her excited and wanting to be part of something. Still, at least as some scalper gets to make some cash, it's all good right?
