Ok @davejm or @spatular which one are you on here ? I’ll take you both off to make room as 2 people have shown interest. If there’s spaces or you change your mind in future let me know or we could always have 2 teams.

Not sure.  I've linked my accounts so not sure why it doesn't show my Steam name on that list.  I'd imagine I'm the 'amateur' one, but I'll see if I can confirm somehow.

I’m in - thanks guys.

Although, having basically fallen down the Argentinian stage just now I’m not sure “thanks” is the right word.

Does every point count or am I hindering the team by posting a bad time?

Every point counts my dude. Going backwards and forwards from GT7 is a bit mad at first but you’ll get used to it. Lots of left foot braking required and getting the cars set up sideways for turns early. Turn the effects down as well if they are too loud - the gravel sound is horrendous on some stages.

Also I mapped handbrake to R2 on my T300 and from memory I think you’ve got the same wheel. Makes dabbing the handbrake for hairpins a bit easier for me, and try and keep a bit of throttle on as you do it else it bogs down

All that league stuff we did last week has disappeared and now it's showing one daily as a "qualification" event. I'm guessing to qualify for a new league? Kind of opaque.

So did we get promoted?

I did the weekly and both dailies yesterday, and it said I had a potential 200k-ish of points, so assuming no late entries from the other teams in the league we should have got up to at least 2nd (I couldn't figure out a way of viewing the entire league so couldn't see what points the leaders had).  It's odd that the points aren't done real time (are they calculated based on how everyone else does?)  Also odd that you can't view last week's results.

It is all a bit weird.  Surely wanting to see what times you guys have done isn't that outlandish?

Whinges aside, the Japanese stages I did last night were lovely, even just sat on the sofa with a pad.  Feels really good when you get a hairpin right.  Not so good when you get it wrong and have to do an Austin Powers-esque 23-point turn to get round the corner.  I could also do with the co-driver saying something like "watch out for the bloody great big concrete block on the apex of the next corner" rather than the  "that was a shock" when I plough into it...

Argentina, in the dark, with hairpin after hairpin after hairpin, through gaps in the rock barely wider than the car, can do one.

Obviously it’s not the best way to play it, but this is better than WRC8,9 and 10 on Switch.

However, the Xbox version, which I also have, looks far nicer and controls better, so it’s only really worth it if you want rallying in the go and don’t have a Steam Deck.

If he/she says 'don't cut', definitely don't cut!

Indeed!  I did find myself mumbling something like "you didn't say don't cut that one!" though.  I get quite shirty with my virtual co-drivers :)

Finally got to have a decent go on this with the wheel - lots of fun, although crikey it's a bit more active than GT7 and ACC!  I was slower for one stage of the Team qualification rally, but quicker from then on as I got my eye in and settled on a camera that makes sense (I was using chase cam with the pad.  The cockpit view but without most of the dash seems to suit me with the wheel).

Now then... that solo qualification rally.  Are you meant to finish with the bare remnants of a rally car, with bits hanging off?  My co-driver was basically having to hold his door shut by the end, and my front bumper buggered off yards from the final service point.  I spent the last 2 stages steering left to go straight, which was particularly tricky with all the jumps and bumps...  I take it you're supposed to go easy on the jumps to save the car?  TBH I was having far too much fun going flat out :) (although "flat out" was a relative term as my car took such a battering it was struggling to go uphill by the end)

I want to try the Co-driver on line Co-op mode for a laugh, anyone tried it?

Also, while this is popular should we try an online multiplayer one evening? You race at the same time but ghosted in other people’s games so it’s a bit weird. I did a few with randos and it was quite good

Ok @marsh do your worst.

Pretty pleased I beat you @CrichStand as you are damn fast.
This was my 2nd attempt, and other than 2 minor offs and literally flipping it on that jump at the end of the last stage this was a good clean run.

I tried to be clever the first time and use soft tyres. Even though they feel great they wear out after after about 10km and are then slower. The big kind last stage I was 15 seconds quicker when I kept it on Hards. Seems like the default tyres are usually the best and there’s no real point I trying to be a clever arse and going for an alternative tyre strategy.

Finished all 3 of my attempts now, and got about a minute quicker each time, dipping into the 45s on the last go.

I think I need considerably more practice to get a handle on how to attack the faster turns as I’m being far too cautious… right up to the point I realise that and get a bit braver and end up at the bottom of a ravine. “I don’t have notes for this bit”. Well, quite…

Edit: how do you get to see the sodding leaderboard?

the only place i've seen the customisable one is right after you finish the rally, after that yeah i'd like to know if you can see it again some other way too.

wanted to take part in this rally thing so made my own team

Spoiler

with blackjack etc.

had 2 goes at it, 2nd one was a bit faster but annoying as it included 3 penalties.

The leagues seem a bit limited. It’s always the same cars, it’s limited to 8 members, the leaderboards don’t work properly and doing it every day to try and get promoted is probably too much commitment.

As an alternative we can do the clubs mode.

I’ve set one up in game so if you play then find it in game “JUNKERDENB ‘s Club”

I’ve set it to start tonight for 7 days, so will end next Saturday night, and I’ll do one a week.

As it’s the real Monte this coming  weekend, the first one is nice and easy. 4 stages through the day pretending to be the Monte master Seb Ogier in his VW Polo WRC.

It’s in realistic mode and I’m not sure how many attempts you get, and I think I’ve set the last stage to be a power stage.
It keeps tracks of leaderboard points over the month and all time, so we can have a bit of a Rallymuk championship through the year. Who’s in?
