Ignoring the game itself entirely, the branding of this is... I don't even have words for it.

This is one "Tom Clancy's" removed of being part of the Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six series.

And then you scroll down the game's website and see...

I mean, what are the odds that this was meant as the original logo for the game with a nice serif title across it? What on Earth possessed them to switch to an in-game spray decal from a competitive shooter instead?

Well the pirate times were yonks ago, right? So who’s to know what kind of fonts they may have access to way back then? There’s no evidence of it, it’s too long ago. No photos and what not. So maybe they did have access to spray paints and stencils for their decals? You don’t know. You’re not a pirate expert, are you? No. You’re not.

Based on careful research I would've rather expected a logo along the lines of...

That logo is a perfect representation of the problems the development of this game has had. How can it be anything other than a generic shambles? The Division at sea.

It should be a slam dunk. They've had so much time to learn from the shaky Sea of Thieves launch to what it's become. They had a super strong base for it with Black Flag.

I kind of hope it fails miserably so Ubisoft is forced to have some kind of introspection of it's goals for their games. Or so the stock drops low enough for someone to buy them and shake them up.

Avant Garrrrrde and Arrrrr-ial were likely top choices for the ship’s weekly newsletter.

Don't pre-order. Guaranteed 50% discounted within 4 weeks after launch.

Don’t buy it at all. Steal it if you really must play it, but don’t give these fucks a single penny.

It looks shit anyway.
