Vindicators in the arcade was twin stick over a decade earlier. And Robotron did it in 1982 but IIRC was digital not analogue.

I meant FPS games that use the twin-stick control method, i.e. move and strafe on one stick, and look on the other.

Ah, right. I was about to also suggest Battlezone, a FPS with two sticks, but doesn’t control like that.

What was the first game where you went left instead of right?

Probably one of the dizzy's or even jetsetwilly now that I type this but it's still often a way to find a secret in a 2d game that not everyone tries.

What about first game that hid something behind a waterfall? Maybe a final fantasy? I'm thinking it must have been a jrpg...

I suppose more as a platform game then really. Because a lot of those 2d shooty jobs did that now my brain has slightly engaged more...

Pitfall was 82, that's the oldest one I can think of.

Anyone else?

Think I remember reading somewhere that Metal Gear Solid was the first game to blur/pixelate nudity. Monumental milestone there.

How to be a Complete Bastard did that over a decade prior. Pretty sure some versions of Rampage did too.
