This is £45 on the eShop. I was expecting prices in line with the Final FantasY ports so I’m guessing the extra cost is to pay for the new voice acting which I’m going to turn off immediately anyway.

I’d expect you could pick up a physical version much cheaper at launch, provided it gets one!

going off square enix's track record, i'm going to assume an asian only physical release and be pleasantly surprised by anything more

I couldn't resist preordering this but I'm a bit dubious as it doesn't actually mention physical media anywhere. If I end up with a steelbook containing a download code I'll be a bit miffed!

For the Switch at least they don’t seem to sell eShop codes and digital games are listed as ‘code in a box’ so I’m fairly confident it is a physical version of the game. At least I hope it is.

I think if it was a download, they'd have to state that an internet connection is required. They don't, so I'm a bit more confident that it should be physical.

I was wrong, the physical version is now listed on Amazon so it’s not SE store exclusive. No steel book at Amazon as far as I can tell.

He was tweeting the hell out of it and going on about tweaking the script for voice actors so I think he’s involved in some capacity.

Yeah, as in you can play the PS4 version on a PS5. They're selling for the same price so there's no 'enhanced' version.

I was complaining about the retouched graphics in the other thread but watching the new trailer I bet this would look really nice on the Switch in handheld mode.

How accessible is this? I do like an SRPG, but find a lot of them just layer system over system and they become a confusing and convoluted mess unless you really focus on it entirely.

It’s like Final Fantasy Tactics, if you’ve played that. It can be complex but it’s easy enough to understand.

It's certainly less complicated than the Disgaeas

This is out today. Anyone picking it up? I'll be getting it on Switch, I think, at heart these games always feel like handheld titles.

 

It's had great reviews across the board and a lot of the changes and updates sound very sensible. I think this will undoubtedly be the definitive version of the game. The English dub sounds like a travesty but you can always turn that off.
