Still have my Mafia Remastered unopened. Was patiently waiting for a 60fps upgrade.

Never gonna happen. Fuck knows why they didn't do it.

Really, really enjoyed both Mafia and Mafia 2 remakes when they released last year. Hadn’t played them before and thought they were great fun. Wasn’t so keen on 3, though, think I was a bit burnt out.

Same here. I love the first two because they're linear story games set in an open city, so you get the feel of an open world game, but without the humdrum map icon ticking. Mafia 3 went a bit Ubimap for my tastes.

Wasn’t the next one going to be set in a 70s-era Vegas? Not sure if that got canned or even went beyond an idea.

Good to know another one is on the way though. Enjoyed 2 and 3 (haven’t played the remaster of 1 yet), both are really atmospheric, and as mentioned above, 3 has a banging soundtrack.

The rumour (insert obnoxious flashing beacon here) was that the Mafia 3 team was working on a "Cthulu meets Saints Row" game that was meant to be unveiled last year but it got canned. That's backed up by Take 2 writing off something like $50million in a recent set of accounts. There were then a lot of layoffs at the main Hangar 13 studio and what's left of it is now working on a Top Spin reboot.

Another gaming oddity lost to the sands of time. Stuff like that fascinates me, probably more than it does with cancelled films or film development. Layoffs always suck though, hopefully at least some of those can be brought back in for Mafia IV.
