In all seriousness there's only Bayonetta 3 left for me on the run up to Christmas. Which is grand, considering I have so many games still unplayed/unfinished with Splatoon 3 now sapping all my spare time.

Next year I have Zelda, Pikmin and more Octopath to look forward to. I think I'll be more than set with just those three for the entire year. Hopefully Octopath comes in a nice CE.

The Prime/Trilogy remaster and Zelda double pack is something that’s been rumoured pretty much since the Switch first came out, so it’s utterly bizarre that these guys keep perpetuating it.

It is the first year we’ve had no Zelda game, at all, though.

Yeah, we haven’t had any of those either. I suppose we had the N64 games if you count those.

Cos I was gonna say, including Hyrule Warriors and Cadence of Hyrule is stretching it for me

I don’t think it is, Age of Calamity, for example, did very well, and no doubt that’s attributed to it being the prequel to Breath of The Wild.

Oh for sure, just they're not 'Zelda' games in my opinion. Nothing wrong with that, I guess that's the kind of thing Nintendo are aiming for when releasing them in between mainline titles.

Yeah they’re not like mainline Zeldas, but they usually get something out franchise related. Didn’t Ocarina and Majora’s come out this year though? So I suppose there’s that.

I see Jeff Grubb has started his apology tour, I don't really understand why people keep putting stock in his brand of speculative bullshit.

It should be really obvious that Nintendo barely leak and if they do, it's not going to be from America. Almost all the leaks from Western sources have been through marketing, like the time the whole Switch launch line-up leaked cos someone working on the exhibit for the press put it on the Internet.

I don't really understand leaker culture, is this my old man shouts at clouds moment?

Got any links? I don’t follow him but quite interested as I think he’s pushed it too far this time.

If you don't want to watch the video, someone on Era posted this summary:

Quote

- Apologizes for his and Mike Minotti's mistake. He said they jumped the gun heavily on this. He even acknowledges that they never verified their sources like they typically do for everything he leaks or reveals. There was no vetting process on the Wind Waker & Twilight Princess stuff. Him and Mike "misheard" about WW/TP, got caught up in the hype like everyone else, never double checked and confirmed this information which led to this huge mistake.
- As for Metroid Prime Remake, he's checked yet again, he's still under the assumption that it's coming out this holiday. He has no understanding as to why Nintendo didn't reveal it, assuming his sources are right. He's just as confused as everybody else.

His hypothesis/speculation regarding the lack of Metroid Prime Remake: He wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo didn't want to reveal Metroid Prime Remake in the same Direct as Tears of the Kingdom because it'd bring down the mood and lead people to questioning where's Metroid Prime 4. He doesn't blame anyone at all if they were skeptical reading this speculation/hypothesis because it sounds ridiculous. However, we all have to remember, Nintendo is very weird. His core reasoning for this speculation, which again is a guess, is because Nintendo probably wanted BOTW2's title reveal to be a big moment and not have anything bad surrounding that announcement.

His hypothesis/speculation regarding a Switch Pro/Switch 2: He's never had ANY rumors regarding Switch Pro or Switch 2. However, he himself, is speculating that the Switch Pro (if it's a thing AGAIN this is a GUESS) would be 2023. This could explain a lot of Nintendo's weirdness regarding announcing games because this would mean they're probably still trying to figure out what's next, how to approach this next step and how to go about announcing things so some of what they're working on can be alongside a Switch Pro or Switch 2 if it exists.

His biggest lesson learned: There is no one to blame except him. Don't blame Mike. He should've stepped up in the moment and tell Mike they need to confirm this before pushing the story/conversation more. Going forward, Jeff won't ever talk about a leak again without actually double checking and confirming their rumors or information they heard. If something like this happens where stories are made by outlets because of what he's saying, he's going to communicate with authors who makes these stories just so it matches his level of certainty regarding whatever rumors he's talking about.

That video has the same vibes as the apology Instagram messages footballers have started to put out after a bad performance. It was probably just an educated guess that if BOTW2 wasn't going to be ready we'd get ports of the old games instead.

Whenever he opens his mouth about Nintendo though it’s usually bollocks.

Wasn’t Star Fox GP one of his?

The Star Fox GP rumors were real though, and believed to have been spread by NoA themselves in order to uncover internal company leaks.

Still, it seems Retro Studios was pitching a new Star Fox game around that time after all :o
