Please please dont do a FF7R this.

If they can keep the atmosphere and the sounds of Silent Hill then I actually don't mind what they do with it really. After SH3, it all became terribly tenuous in its links to the place, and it's really that town that grabbed me.

And the strangely awkward feeling I get when I look at the nurses.

The hd remaster was a travesty

I got this on sale a few weeks ago thinking it was some kind of “30fps= unplayable!1” type hyperbole, but it really is shit. I turned it off after about 40 mins.

This remake is very well timed. I’ve never played the Silent Hill series at all.

Silent Hill 2 is not even close to being long enough to split up into two parts.

Not being glib but surely that depends on the lengths of each part? The automatic assumption is they are going to stretch it out over two full prices games but what if it's smaller chunks at a lower price (but still higher than a regular release in the end)?

Lower price🤣

EDIT: Clarify this is Konami, and I understand what you mean but I'm very sceptical.

It might just be a series of trailers leading up a release...lets hope so.

Thinking about it not sure if I want to replay Silent Hill 2. Loved it back in the day on the PS2 it was one of my most memorable experiences on the platform. The music, the characters etc, story atmosphere. Just brilliant. Can it ever feel the same as it did the first time you visited Silent Hill?

Saying that looking forward to seeing what actually gets announced tonight hopefully a new Silent Hill based on the engine shown in the infamous PT Demo. Which was brilliant...

Would it have killed them to remake Silent Hill 1 first?

Now that would be great! Never finished the original as I never had a PlayStation. I did try it on the PS2 via BC but it was a bit rough and clunky after finishing SH2.

If all else fails you can always go to myabandonware and find a certain PC game and then after that get an "enhanced" version on that other site. Nothing to feel bad about now as things stand.

But I am excited and hopeful as the rest of you.

Silent Hill 2 is still a high point in video game story telling, even all these years later. Very little has topped it since. The prison section of the game was pant shittingly scary too. Soundtrack was the business (still got it knocking about somewhere) and the sound design was fucking unreal. Just wish I’d bagged one of those official merch James’ coats when they were selling them off cheap, cool as fuck and no doubt would be worth daft money these days.

Silent Hill 2 is pretty much made for PS5 to do it’s full on business with but, even so, I can’t see a remake living up to the original game. It was just such an amazingly horrific experience at the time. Fucking Bloober Team too?!?!? Er.......no.

Think I’d sooner see a totally new game building on all the stuff that made Silent Hill 2 so great.

I think everything was great about this game...except the gameplay, and gamers in 2022 demand a lot more than wandering from locked door to locked door trying to find a key whilst mashing X to whack some animated mannequin with a rusty pole.

The problem is that most games, including horror games, have the player being some incredibly adept survivor/killer even if the story suggests theyre not, Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 didnt do that, you always felt like you were utterly fucked and just somehow getting through all the horrors.

Ah, I think they’ve fucked it. It’s too melodramatic. James is meant to be almost perversely calm during a lot of it, because he knows the truth behind it all. He’s not meant to be sweating bullets when he arrives and going 😭 whenever he runs into anything sad.
