Little desperation to play any of those but will inevitably pick a few up when a) there’s a price drop, and b) the adoration of one of these games post-release pushes me to splash out.

Yep. Most of my gaming time involves picking up old shit for a few quid and still being amazed at it on a small PC handheld.

The only thing I really need to do is install Windows on it to cop PC game pass games when I bother to resub.

Oh good shout when is that out?

'Spring', so probably the arse end of May. It's Game Pass though, so I'm cool with it coming out whenever it's ready.

I'm quite happy playing random stuff on Gamepass and older titles.  I'll be excited for new stuff that finally not cross gen or sequels.  Let me just check the list and just filter out cross gen looking stuff.

Modern Warfare 2

Bayo 3

God of War Ragnarok

Sonic Frontiers

Callisto Protocol

FF7 Crisis Core

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Resi 4 remake

Final Fantasy 16

🙁

Where I'm at too. Seems I've missed quite a few great games over the years and just enjoy playing some of my favourites again.

I do try the odd new release now and again but they rarely seem to get played through to completion.

Nothing on that list really interests me sequels and spin offs from existing franchises. Just the way big budget games are going I guess which is fine for those that enjoy.

Final Fantasy XVI isn’t cross gen. PS5 only with a PC port coming later.

I haven't seen the latest stuff, but the reveal trailer looked like a PS4 title Squenix made PS5 exclusive the moment Sony shoved some ¥5000 notes in their pants.

What’s with people looking at the OP list, which includes goddam BotW 2 and Resi 4, amongst others, and then going “nothing on there for me”? Boggles the mind, man.

I never clicked with BOTW so the sequel isn’t really exciting me.
I’ve played RE4 - why would I bother about a remake of a game that looks to be a shiny version of the original?

I’m guessing you must have liked the original to play it a couple of times. Had you played REmake 2 and/or VIIIage, and multiplied that factor by your apparent appreciation for OG RE4, then you’d have REm4ke on your most wanted list I’m sure :hat:

Did you watch the gameplay footage? It looks berserk. I can’t honestly get past the idea of folk liking computer games, seeing that and going “nothing really there for me.”

Tried and didn't get on with them - my gaming tastes have changed from horror games. I'm not stopping you or anyone else being excited by it but you asked how anyone could look at the list and say - nowt for me.

I don’t really even like horror games 😂 Can’t think of any others that I have even played. I just love the gameplay loop of RE. The inventory management, the Metroidvania-ish backtracking, shortcut opening, the tension and release action, the ridiculous puzzles involving card suit imagery and gems that open Scooby Doo style secret passageways behind bookshelves, and so on. It’s all these cool little things that come together beautifully within a wonderful cohesive whole, each feeding into each other with a superb gameplay feel, with usually incredible graphics, all served up with this marvellously dichotomous high camp yet grisly presentation. I can’t fathom not liking any of it if ye like yer computer games 😞

If my weapon breaks every 5 minutes then I'm out already.

I am confident that they will address that whole system in one way or another. There’s too much shite talked about it for them not to. See also the lAcK oF rEgUlAr DuNgEoNs. Both are a stick on to be rammed right up arses, I’m certain of it.

I'm enjoying the incredulity on show that anyone could possibly be excited for games that aren't sequels or remakes. Like, nobody's never seen a game previewed that wasn't part of an existing series and been excited for it (despite, you know, Callisto Protocol even making the original list).

Anyway, of the list, Tears of the Kingdom is the one game I'm looking forward to, but that's so far away I'm not really hyped up for it just yet (see also the not-on-the-list Homeworld 3). What I'm really looking forward to in coming months are Pentiment and Midnight Suns; really hoping both live up to their promise!

Course not. Just funny when someone ‘um…actually’s a list I pulled off the top of my head and then doesn’t even add anything that they’re looking forward to themselves…even when I literally ask them to in the OP.

Oh well, some people will always find it easier to define themselves by what they don’t like than what they do.

You raise an interesting point about previews though, thanks to no E3 and minimal in-person events for journos to report back from, I’m definitely less clear about what is coming up. Something that plays great and has an interesting gameplay hook will likely just be represented by a shrug-inducing trailer or logo reveal in a Direct/state of Play these days.

It's definitely why I look forward to Next Fest on Steam - being able to play early betas of the more unique games out there and get excited about things in the coming months is very valuable in keeping my interest in the hobby.
