There's 2 types of Football Fans; those that believe Messi to be the greatest, and those that don't actually know anything about the sport they claim to be a fan of.

Messi aligned himself with Saudi Arabia to promote tourism and their bid for the 2030 World Cup as if he didn'tr earn enough money from Barcelona and fellow sportswashers PSG. Strangely enough the BBC have never mentioned this during all fhe VTs they ran on him during the tournament and his football skills don'r override that for me. Not that the next generation of MBappe or Haaland or any better when it comes to that of course.

France will be back in 2026, Argentina will be lucky to get out of the group stage without Messi.

Infantino managing to ruin handing the World Cup to Messi by keeping hold of it and assuming Messi gives the remotest fuck about what he is saying.

He did that at AFCON as well when the presentation ceremony to just as long.

Brighton have a world cup winner for the first time ever like Aston Villa.

Unfortunately unlike Villa, we don't have the financial resources to fend off interest but a least we'll get a decent amount for him. Just hope we can avoid turning into Southampton.

I do wonder what the interest in Martinez will be now.  He’s had a weird career, during the last World Cup cycle he’d swapped sitting on the bench at Arsenal for sitting on the bench while on loan at Getafe.

Then Neal Maupay left one in on Bernd Leno and the rest is history.

I know some Arsenal fans have used his sale as a stick to beat the club with, but aside from his run in the team as we won the cup he was a pretty poor Championship keeper at absolute best. There can’t have been a person on earth that could’ve predicted he’d swap chucking five in against Reading for winning the world fucking cup. Shame he seems so bitter about the club really as my shit eyed tribalism won’t allow me to be pleased for him or enjoy his antics. Those are the rules I’m afraid.

Maupay is cursed to be "placeholder until Calvert-Lewin is fit". Villa will at least keep Martinez because they can afford to. He is an enormous dickhead but it makes him both effective and entertaining in penalty shootouts assuming he's not playing against a team you care about.

No sign of any GIFs of Martinez's dancing celebration after he Jedi-mind-tricked the French player into missing? I think they replayed it in slo-mo about 3 times during the coverage and it had us falling about every time.
