Wales slight favourites to get through as runners up over the U.S now I think.

Assuming both teams can beat Iran and England will beat both of them then its who has the best goal difference from those two games and England will take their foot of the gas against Wales as they would already be through (plus it is a derby) and Iran will be more up for it against the U.S even just to try and stop them going through.

Of course - maybe Iran aren't as bad as they looked today or England aren't as good as they looked today and it isn't England with 6 points and Wales with 4 after Friday.

I'm hoping it's a directive to start adding on an amount of time that's reflective of the time wasting that goes on in every game. I'd quite happily see this become the new norm.

If that’s the case it’s a good job Italy didn’t make it. They’d take up the whole month!

9 minutes??? What's going on with the injury time at this World Cup?

Apparently the officials have been told to add time for every little thing.

Would be better with the clock just stopping if this is the future.

Indeed.

Does anyone else have an issue with ITV hub on LG OLED TVs?

I've got a C1 and there's no option for live TV anywhere on the app - tried reinstalling but still nothing.

Is this just ITV being shit as usual and it not being compatible with certain models?

Rotherham learned the hard way the other week when the officials added on 10 minutes.  If teams start conceding equalisers / winners deep into added on time, they'll stop it pretty sharpish.

I think that it is a big problem, the biggest facing the game at the moment.

It’s nothing more than a plaster to a deep problem. The sooner they introduce 60 min matches with stopped clocks the better. It’ll improve everything.

I think if that happens there's a possibility that games will become even longer.  Teams will take advantage of this to take a breather.  You'll find that it'll be the team who are chasing the game that starts wasting time.

ITV hub does not show live tv on LG tvs, I have no idea why.

It’s not a big problem though.

? For real?

Most Prem matches have 50-55 mins of gameplay. Refs only ever add on 2-5 mins. The incentive for teams to time waste is absolutely massive. You see it every match. A stopped clock deals with feigned injuries, 45 second goal kicks and other bullshit.

I always think of when Derby played Millwall and an “injured” player rolled from the byline onto the pitch, forcing the ref to stop the game. Probably 4 mins of bullshit and none of it was added on.

I have the same issue with my LG TV. When visiting the ITV site  via the web browser app on the TV and live streaming from there, it has loads of overlays and the option to full screen does not work.

Got a Amazon Cube thing in the other room and that app has upgraded to ITVX - loads of options including live TV.

Not watching the World Cup on a 32" screen when I've 55" of OLED in the main room.

First world problems, I know.  Very odd though.

It's definitely a problem, and I like the idea of proper amounts of injury time being added on, even if it looks hilarious to us now as we aren't used to it.   Time isn't being added on properly, and it never has been, because the convention is to add between 2-5 minutes on no matter what has happened.  A board showing 4 minutes on tends to be recieved with shock by the fans of a team defending a lead, even if that team has just spent 7 minutes over a throw-in.  Time also needs to be added on properly for time wasted during the injury time - earlier this season when Man Utd were chasing a winner against Newcastle, Newcastle managed to waste two of the four minutes of injury time taking a goal-kick.

In Euro 2020, when Italy played Belgium, Italy made 12 of the last 21 minutes of the match disappear by wasting time.  There were 7 minutes of injury time in that match.  It should have been 12 minutes, and that isn't taking into account the first 31 minutes of the half into account!  Imagine that - the 4th official holds up a board with 24 minutes on, thwarting the Italian attempts to cheat.  Imagine the scenes.

For real. I don’t think it’s a huge problem, certainly no worse than it ever has been.  I think any move to introduce more playing time will introduce more time wasting.

The biggest problem facing the game? Not racism, not homophobia, not clubs going under, not financial imbalance, but time wasting. Nah.

TImewasting & 'game management' is definitely an issue as has gone from being something the odd team did to something absolutely built into most coaches fundamental approaches. If the aim of the game is to play for 90m and teams to try and score against each other then the law makers have to step in when the way the game is played is being shaped to get round or optimise the current setup.

Easiest way is to make the game 60m but stop the clock whenever the ball is not moving.

No problem with VAR giving those grabbing pens but just need to see it applied consistently, why not have a dedicated single person assigned  as the pen box manhandling VAR for the whole WC and sit them in the box the whole time, each game has a VAR team of 7 now and very few matches occur at same time. Couldn't do in leagues but for a 4wk tourney seems doable.

Off the pitch, there are obviously severe issues such as the above.

But I think he means issues on the pitch.  Which I would agree with.

Harry Maguire has no luck at all, that was softer than the foul on him yesterday. I think KSA might be on the end of another 8-0 at the World Cup.

I’m completely wrong. KSA have looked a lot better than Iran did yesterday and their offside trap has worked well. 1-0 it’s half time is a fair reflection of the game so far.

Argentina look like they will be deadly the deeper into the tournament they go. Their defence is might and day compared to engerlannnd.

The same England who conceded two goals in the last tournament?

Arg are facing Saudi Arabia and have a 34 year old Otamendi at CB.
