Street Fighter 6's beta might actually be my goty, and I actually think Silent Hill 2 looks pretty good tho a bit apprehensive about that one. Also interested in Starfield and if RE4 Remake offers the same kind of VR that the Quest 2 version did then that will be really cool. I've also really come around on Forspoken, the combat looks really free form in it. Will just have to skip all the cutscenes though

So tentatively excited for 23. Would be even more excited if FFVII Rebirth came out but I think it won't

I would stick the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion into that list - I'm fairly confident they're going to be putting everything they've got into that, to build on the momentum that the next-gen patch and Edgerunners built up.

Also, Destiny: Lightfall. It's going to be more Destiny, but that's a good thing.

MS has bought everyone and is now managing them about as well as they've managed 343. So nothing gets released. Let alone released finished.

Sony has barely a Sad Dad in sight, and heaven forbid any new IP games.

Nintendo's console has reached the point where it would struggle to run a port of a digital clock. To make it worse it's coming to the end of life, when a) there's a silicon shortage and b) not even the preposterous SteamDeck can hit above 800p. So they've no room to move for at least a few years, so the switch will keep on creaking. At least the games will be bonkers.

I'll never forgive GaaS from soaking up so many developers to endlessly iterate on a game, rather than getting to make new ones. Ban all 'seasons'.

It's a sad time to be honest. If it wasn't for Zelda, and the fact that I've realised I can just replay FromSoft games for the next year, I would be getting worried.

I'm looking forward to four games next year:

Street Fighter 6 on PC

Street Fighter 6 on PS4

Street Fighter 6 on PS5

Street Fighter 6 on Xbox Series X/S

Who knows? I might even upgrade my PC or get one of those four consoles in order to actually play it.

I like the look of the new Zelda and AC: Mirage (really glad they're making a smaller game again) and the new Spidey game is a pretty safe bet (hopefully there'll be fewer generic villains and more recognisable super-villains this time).

and some Elden Ring DLC surely?

surely?

Surely, if any Game is big enough, it's Elden Ring? Surely it's time to move to the sequel.

But at the same time, FS DLC is typically even better than the GOAT games themselves - so I'm in a moral quandary here.

I don't think any of these games will be playable in 2023. Starfield might get released, but I don't think it'll be playable at launch.

I’m excited for PSVR2 (dependent on how much a 45 year old kidney fetches on the black market these days), Resi 4, Spider-Man 2 and FFXVI.  I’m wondering if this Xbox streaming stick will see a release next year, I’d be up for checking out Game Pass on it if so.

I stopped playing Destiny (after many, many hours) when I realised that it’s 95% busywork and pretty much felt like a second job in the end. The first couple of runs through Deep Stone Crypt were incredible, though.

It's a decent looking start to the year.

All of these are at least a little interesting (although I'm sure they won't all turn out good), and are confirmed releases in Jan or Feb:

Fire Emblem Engage

Forspoken

Dead Space

Deliver Us Mars

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos

Wanted: Dead

Wild Hearts

Atomic Heart

Like a Dragon: Ishin!

Octopath Traveler II

Destiny 2: Lightfall

For new AAA games? No. Expect there to lots of indie titles that I will gravitate too and well catch up on some older games.

Maybe next year we start to see more games that use the new consoles hardware a bit more?

Had both the PS5 and Series X and not really found a compelling reason to keep either at the moment. I expect some revised consoles at some point and some games that need the power of a PS5 or Series X. Until then I will just keep plodding on with my Series S and GamePass seems to be enough fun gaming right there ATM. Oh and my old PC with the Oculus S.
