Yeah. It would be a few months late on that!

This has got me stumped but I'm enjoying guessing.

Or is this an elaborate double-bluff with the basis being that it's never too late to cover the turtles :P

Pro Evo is an interesting choice. It was a huge franchise, but would there be any love for a cover?

Also Pro Evo doesn't fit with the late 80s.

That would be a great April fools joke. A paper/plastic bag that promotes Dead Space, but it's actually the Spectrum port of The Evil Dead when you open it.

I gave up on the subscription copy of RG240 and bought it in WH Smith. If it's the franchise on the Next Month page, I'm cancelling my subscription*

Spoiler

*To the Beano, because this RG feature is the only thing I'll be reading over Christmas. Looking forward to it.

I'd read it if someone explains what iss on the N64 has to do with pro Evo. I bought iss on the N64 with N64 mag proclaiming it was best football game ever and better than any playstation football game. It seemed ok.

Then four years later playing pro Evo on PS2. Im sure I've read they are the same series but pro Evo plays nothing like iss!?

different teams developed the games: KCEO vs KCET

the divergence is due to:

Jikkyō World Soccer vs Winning 11

the last ISS game was ISS3 on the gamecube

I can’t remember what’s on the next month page and I only wrote it last week!

I'll quickly blow past that bizarre comment and simply say that the next cover features a series that was huge during the late-Eighties and early Nineties. Will be interesting to see how it's accepted.

Both, but largely console.

Sounds great. I’m looking forward to reading what Retro Gamer has to say about the Ganbare Goemon series.

I'd love to tackle that series in more depth if we could get the relevant access. Such an underrated series.

On the subject of Atari, I was born in 1970 and therefore for me it was “gaming”. I think if you were born in that era it always will be because before that there was basically nothing (yes I know there were consoles before the VCS, but they hardly became household names, especially in the UK).

For me though it was the computers, my best mate got a 400 and quickly after an 800 replaced it. I’d spend most of the summer and Xmas holidays round his house playing on it. So when I had the money to buy my own machine I got a 130XE. Then my mate got a very earlyish ST (pre the FM models) in 86 so I followed suit once the FM came out and I’d got a Saturday job.

So, although I lived in the UK and was throughly enveloped in the brilliant and vibrant UK computer scene in the 80s (we got a Dragon 32 in 1982) whilst all my other mates had Speccy, 64s etc I was very much an Atari kid at heart. For me the period from 82-89 was truly a wonderful time to be a teenager into computers and video games. The breadth of different machines and software innovation will never be seen again.

Never owned a VCS though, they were far too expensive and my Dad was never going to shell out for something that only played games. This is a man who refused to buy a Video Recorder because we watched too much TV as it was! When I was about 10 though, i do remember going to another friends birthday party and his Dad had rented one with a bunch of games, we had great time. 4 player Warlords is still ingrained in my mind.

So after all that twaddle I’ll add that I devoured the Atari articles in this issue. But I love probably 85% of everything RG do so it’s hardly surprising.

My wife vomited on my copy.

I should point out this isn't intentional shade. My wife did indeed vomit on my magazine. I've realised now however, it was the latest Edge that's been destroyed not retrogamer.

I know the 3/10 for Sonic is controversial, but I think she's gone a step too far.

Deafening silence to this one so my fingers are crossed! Would be good timing for me since I’m trying to be competent at Daimakaimura again having picked up a PC Engine Mini recently.
