Death Stranding 2 - Kojima at it again

Oh look all the doubters coming in. Once you see the trailer, you'll all feel ashamed of your words and deeds.

What I'm most excited about is that this is going to be built for the PS5 from the ground up, there is no other Sony AAA game we know of that is PS5 only. I believe this is going to be the first true next gen game of this era.

An editor for Kojima. A story that's more baked into the actual gameplay. Better and less clunky combat, or ideally no traditional combat altogether.

The crazy thing is he can edit. Those trailers were a masterclass. It's just with the full game he doesn't trust his audience enough!

So an editor and more trust that we'll either follow the weird stuff or make up our own theories.

Look, it was a pretty great game. But I hated it the first time around because I was enough of a moron to watch all the cutscenes and listen to all the dialogue.

I'd like more variable weather, a need to shelter for real, some sort of hardcore mode where your shoes degrade unwholesomely fast, more infrastructure to build (supply lines and settlements?) and more of the actual game.

Wait. Sam could contextually slap anyone who talks too long with the push of a button. That, please.

That the game doesn't completely plateau once you unlock ziplines and the entire game turns into a setting up ziplines simulator

I liked DS a lot but it definitely felt like a first stab at an ambitious idea that wasn't quite there. The most innovative AAA 7/10 of the generation, so the sequel should be ace

Also I hope I can skip every single cutscene, don't do the GoW Ragnarok thing where cutscenes and gameplay are interweaved. After that first game, I'm completely checked out on this stupid and boring story. I'm just here to life the heavy boxes around, thanks

After the intro level you find out you don’t play as Norman Reedus anymore and the main character is Ivor’s reanimated corpse. Rather than having to rest and drink energy drinks you have to sew your feet or legs back on when they fall off.

Someone who knows how human beings speak writing the dialogue this time around.

A quick skip option to immediately bypass all cutscenes.

I'd prefer an option to skip the gameplay and keep the cutscenes

Fucking hell, is this on tonight, no thread for it?

I don't think I've watched any of the previous shows, just a compilation of any announced games on YouTube afterwards. Is it a shit show or worth waiting up for?

Either way, think I'll watch it, got some Draught Guinness and a new official gravity glass with a knock off Nitrosurge to try out. Came from Amazon a few hours ago and was going to wait until tomorrow night to try it all out but a few announcements and a dash of cringe seems like the perfect occasion to pour a glass or two.

12.30am is only the bullshit pre show nonsense isn't it? Need to Google what time I'd get to see something worthwhile.

EDIT* Duh! on tomorrow, fuck it, I'm having a Guinness anyway.

Death Stranding was incredible - a big-budget first party blockbuster that was highly original, took risks, and heavily discouraged you from killing anyone. I’m at the front of the queue for any sequel, and this is coming from someone who disliked all of Kojima’s games up until Metal Gear Solid V.

High praise indeed - I'm in the same boat - MSG V was the only one I thought was a game - rather than a silly interactive film where you didn't get to play for about an hour at a time

I’ve mentioned before in a few threads but just before the game released I broke my leg and basically couldn’t walk at all for around four months, and I spent a lot of it just playing this game, the freedom inherent in the game was liberating to my situation and for that I shall forever love it. I almost rinsed the whole thing too.

Wouldn't FF XVI more or less fit that bill though - for 6 months?

I suppose I should point out that the things I listed are merely the things I'd like to see changed. Other than that I'm happy if everything else is pretty much the same, I thought Death Stranding was a great game. Just add more variety, smooth out the story elements and job's a good 'un.
