Nice. No release year hint? Decided I'm going to try and avoid the big cutscene trailers for DS2, so I can get the full experience in-game. I devoured all the Death Stranding 1 trailers and would prefer to go in quite blind this time. But I did glimpse a few snippets at the Game Awards and so I have some vague idea of who's in it and what's going on. Looks very cool. I imagine it will be impossible not to get spoiled on everything but I'm going to at least try! It's looking good, that's all I need to know!

100% this.  I've been feeling a little jaded by games lately, especially since trying to trudge through Ragnarok, but this news and trailer have me super hyped.  It's going to be so wonderfully, insanely, epic.  I just can't wait.

Well… fuck! I only played DS for the first time this year but it felt like it was the right time for me to play it. Even years on from its original release and with games like Elden Ring and Ragnarok it is my GOTY.

 

If I could have one thing in the sequel it would be more diversity in the combat. Granted that is actually a secondary aspect of the game aside from the boss encounters but it’s literally the only thing I would like to see updated. 
 

And if there was one thing I do NOT want it would be vehicles that can fly. A make shift cargo tray as a hover board was plenty. Just give me more wheels and places to ride to with Norman Reedus!

If they don't have a line where they pronounce their name differently from one moment to the next it'll be a bonus.

Even though this will likely be a much more streamlined development than the first with less R+D, I don't see this coming out in 2023 at all. I can see there being an early 2024 release that eventually gets pushed back to late 2024.

Oh man I am so pleased about this. 
I adored Death Stranding and all its weirdness. 
I don’t really play many open world games these days as I find them a bit overwhelming. The appeal to me and what kept me going in DS was not knowing or being able to guess what I would see or do next.

I have to admit, even as someone who has come to despise Kojima’s undisciplined waffle, it’s kind of glorious that he thinks he still didn’t say all he needed to with the first Death Stranding. The man has retained his creative joy, which is an achievement in and of itself.

Yes, for me the cutscenes were the drag. The amazing hiking in the Scottish Highlands simulator was the fun part.

My favourite bit of death stranding is a side mission when you help reunite a man with his girlfriend, someone he thought long dead. He’d been embittered and torn apart by grief having lost her.

Then after you reunite them he keeps emailing you saying how fucking annoying she is.

I didn’t mind the cutscenes too much until the end of the game where it feels like about 6 hours of cutscenes interspersed with a couple of minutes of gameplay. Also those credits where you’re just fucking running around a beach for about an hour. 
 

But really one of the best games in years overall. Looking forward to it.
