I'm still amazed that Rise 2:Resurrection was released. I have no idea how it plays but who'd risk it after the first game?

Especially when other games had entered the field like the decent (at the time) Zero Divide.

Oh....I remember it looking better than this. This has not dated well....

I believe Rise 2 was a lot better than the first. Admittedly it'd struggle to be much worse.

Whatever about Rise Of The Robots, was anyone fooled by Microcosm?

Nah, I was too cynical by then. Still remember the Amiga Format review, openly stating that it doesn’t play great, but at least its graphics shows off the CD32 and will make people want to buy one – seriously.

(That particular publication re-reviewed the game a few years later and actually gave it an accurate and honest review.)

Amiga Format, the living spirit of compromised press for The Greater Good.

Haha, I had that issue. I remember ther was a grovelling apology in the next issue. It was also the reason that years later when I worked in newspapers I made sure I never used anything as placeholder text that could cause a problem if it ended up being printed.

It was an apology with a 'cut out and stick over' section wasn't it?

Absolutely!

That big box version looking at me in the Virgin Megastore back in the day was irresistible :D

True story : I later worked with a programmer who starred in the intro cutscene

It’s one of the golden rules. Anyone who does it deserves to get caught out.
