Lego Masters TV show

Aussie series is definitely my favourite. Though thanks @Vespa Alexfor that link as I'll definitely watch the NZ one as well. Even after watching several series, I'm still in awe at what they can build in the time given.

I also think Brickman in the aussie one seems like such a great bloke. It's quite sad seeing him getting all teary eyed when he has to eliminate a team.

We watch the Aussie one & the US with Will Arnett, both been heading towards far too many comedy skits and gimmicks (especially the US).

The Aussie one seems far too long too with eps often running to 1h45m. The Aussie radio DJ host bloke can be amusing but has mainly been getting more and more annoying as the seasons go on.

Still we solve these issues with frequent use of the FFWD button, and the builds themselves and Brickman are great, even if he seems to be turning into the pottery bloke and crying most week at the builds.

@Gotters The gimmicks really piss me off. I reached my limit when the Oz one introduced the platinum brick and the two girls were able to save themselves after their build collapsed. That was bullshit. Thankfully the team eliminated were able to get back on the show.

I wonder if we’ll get more UK episodes after the Christmas special?

Now that the show has much more exposure I’m sure we could get a higher standard of competitor than the original lot.

I was hoping this after seeing them in a new studio akin to the US/Aus one. But it turned out they just borrowed it from LM Poland.

It's weird that (afaik) it originated here then was abandoned after two series while every other country ran with the US version to great success.

yep, even worse was the couple who got landed with the 'brick of doom' which left them with less time to build for weeks, and only a win could get them un-cursed.

plus being a radio DJ it had a sound effect and he repeated it what seemed like a dozen times every week

I seem down on the aussie one, but really like the actual builds and challenges and brickman is far less annoying than the tall scottish lady on the US version

I absolutely love LEGO Masters Australia.

It's pitched at just the right level and I think Hamish and Brickman are excellent.

The US show is also good fun. The judges are weak, though, and it feels very forced and unnatural when they interact with the contestants. Not a patch on Brickman!

There is an awful contestant this year, the one who calls herself the character boss then denies it.

If being charitable she may be a bit on the spectrum, if not she's just a grade A arsehole.

Nah, you're crazy. Hamish is ace and fast becoming a National treasure here in Oz. He's clearly having a ball while every episode we wait for Brickman's tears to start. What a show!

I've watched quite a few versions of Lego Masters and I personally rank the Australian one the highest and the US one lowest.

While I generally like Will Arnett, it's the american format I dislike. Over the top commentary, a lot of screaming and generally a bit too shallow for my liking. I'm also not a fan of the way the US version animates the contestants' builds before judging, it kinda takes the magic and imagination away.

While I'm not a huge fan of the Australian main host, his constant jokes and skits is generally too much for my liking, I need to remind myself that this is a family show and the kids seems to like his shenaningans very much. The australian brick master, however, is the best there is. If I ever got the chance to sit down and have a couple of beers with someone I don't know, he'd be a good pick for me.

The Swedish one was also rather good and a bit surprising they went for a host with no experience in TV at all, they basically picked a young youtuber who was known (in Sweden) for his food reviews. Some of the builds in the swedish version are among the best I've seen overall.

My favourite duo, so far, across all seasons and countries has to go to the guys who ended up winning S3 of the Aussie one, they had two builds in particular that blew my mind and are possibly the two best Lego builds I've ever seen.

One of my favourite duos were the Chinese brothers in the U.S one. That dragon they built in episode one was awesome. Sadly, one of them was a bit too arrogant for my liking and they focused far too much on always trying to have a Chinese theme. I do think they were robbed of the overall win though.

Yeah, the dragons they made for the parade theme was excellent and head and shoulders above any of the other builds in that particular episode.

Can I show off? Can I? I mean, I'm going to anyway but this way I get to tease it.

He is, I can say so, because to goes to my wargaming club.  Top bloke through and through.

Our house is a Lego Masters observing house, and it's one of the few shows the entire family gather around the TV for. Such good wholesome entertainment. It genuinely helped us get through the extended lockdowns in Melbourne.

Series 3 of the U.S version has gone up on All4. Is that an indication that it isn't as popular as the Aussie one? Either way, I'd forgotten just how loud it is compared to the Oz one. It's all just so in your face.
