That boat challenge in ep6 is ridiculous. Surely the beefy second team would’ve realised they had the wrong approach when they had all the strength advantage while making really hard work of the challenge? It really is no joke.

 

 

May have convinced themselves they still did it quickest. Such a cockup. I was absolutely knackered from just watching that.

We cracked up when that bloke made really heavy work of mashing the chest with a sledgehammer and then announced to everyone "I found one!" that he already knew was inside.

Great show! i love a physical challenge show, even as a kid i remember the assault course on the Krypton factor being the best bit of the show.

 

I also love the lack of presenters. With a show like this, i am not there to watch, and i use the term extremely loosely, celebs larking about on camera, I'm there to see the feats of agility and the payoff of years of training on these awesome people. The first season of ultimate beastmaster was a massive sinner with a whole gallery of cunts who thought we were there to watch their antics and the athletes were just to provide them inspiration to flap their gums about.

 

I loved the Japanese version of ninja warrior as it was just contestants with no cuts to commentators to tell

Yeah, there should have been a load more obstacles for them to have to go over and under. That would have made it more challenging and entertaining. Still, props to the guy who won, he clearly had the best technique for a skill they all needed to figure out on the spot.

Great first season overall, really enjoyed it. I do wonder if they got lucky having so many absolute stars in the 100, or if S. Korea is just full of these ultra-charismatic, super-fit types.

I think the highlights were the ship pulling and bridge building. More team events for season 2 please.

Yeah although the structure of the final 5 worked quite well too. Worthy winner. Seriously impressive.

I think the balance of individual, group & team events was spot on, but I’m definitely looking forward to S2.

 

I can see the format becoming a franchise with other countries running a localised version, but the Korean athletes respect for each other is going to be hard to beat.

I'd love to see a season 2, this was a blast. I hope it got a lot of positive reception in Korea so that lots of others would enter if they do a second season. I can imagine a lot of athletes watching season 1 and thinking, "I could do that!"

I haven't finished it yet, but what's with all the - repeat the last 5 seconds, about 10 times - bullshit. The english dub sounds exactly like an anime with how they deliver their specific dialogue and intonation, and it's so distracting .

It's an annoyingly common trope on Korean reality TV. They love their reaction shots.

There’s an article doing the rounds that the ending was fucked up, and the runner up was actually robbed of victory by the production team in that final event. Sad if true. Thread on Era talks about it.
