Happy to pay £70 for this considering how much time I got out of the first.

Let’s face it, they could charge a ton and no-one would blink.

There's a fair bit of smoke that Tears of the Kingdom is going to be Nintendo's first £70/$70 game without even having the next-gen tax excuse to hide behind.

3D Zelda is one of the very few games I'm willing to pay that for but I pre-ordered it with Shopto ages ago for £50, hopefully they won't cancel it if this is indeed true.

Might be worth getting a preorder in at somewhere it's still listed at £50 in case it's true.

I wonder if it's got anything to do with this:

Now that’s a piss take. Not paying £70 for any Switch game.

My predictions:

More Smash characters

Pokemon and Splatoon dlc

Long look at Zelda

Mario game of some sort

Look at Pikmin which is still far away

Couple of unexpected JRPGs

Farming /life sim

New N64 games on Switch Expansion Pack

I expect a lot of that will show, besides smash characters since they are done with making any new ones.

£70 is too much for *any* game IMO - but why is it a problem for a Switch game more than a PS5 or XBX game.....you're not going to try and argue that something like Zelda is less of a worthwhile game than GOW or something are you?

Switch games are the only games I'd ever pay full price for, they never lose value! Breath of the wild still fetches £35 second hand. Your investment in xb or ps games is halved within a month usually!

First-party physical Nintendo games are probably the safest financial investment in gaming.

The sequel to the greatest game of all time? They can name their price.

That’s bull. Peeps are complaining about Sony and MS setting their software at £70 and yet think it’s okay for Nintendo to do the same for games on 6yr old hardware. I don’t know why maybe because it’s Nintendo and people think they are lovely despite being as much a company of cut throat capitalists as MS/Sony. Neither will this be a one off it will be to test if they can sell all their future software at that price. Considering Nintendo aim their products firmly at families and children it would be a dick money grabbing move. They can firmly fuck off with that.

BoTW RRP was £59.99, six years ago, which is the most expensive a Switch game has ever been priced AKAIK - be a bit strange if they up it to £69.99 given that all their other AAA first party games are still £49.99.

But let’s be honest, as if anyone isn’t buying this.

Of course it would be a money grabbing move - why do you think they sell games?

Weird trend for some of them not to be at the moment. Dread is cheaper than seems logical and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl and Arceus are all sub 30 quid on ebay. But they're probably suffering from the saturation of switch Pokemon games at this point.

Also just looked at Mario 3D World and that's doing the same. Still better than Xbox and PS games this far onto their individual lifespans, mind.

Yeah whatever, you’ll buy it anyway.

I'm still on the fence tbh. Looks amazing but I don't have the time for it. And I'm not paying 70 quid for it* because fuck that. Nintendo are the only company that I haven't gone all in on digital because their first party does not discount quick. I'll take the 'inconvenience' of changing a cart to save 20-30 quid.

Physical all the way for me so I’ll pay whatever it takes, within reason, for the LE.

It’s the five stages of grief.

Denial:  What?  No way.  They’d never release it at that price.

Anger: Fuck you, Nintendo.  I’m selling my Switch.

Bargaining: Maybe they’ll release it again later with all the dlc at a better price.

Depression: Nintendoomed

Acceptance: I’ve preordered it.

That's the thing though, they outperform Xbox and PS games massively on this score. It's all relative.

Thought BOTW was way over rated. No rush to play this at all.

The fanboys will buy anything Nintendo sell but they need more than just their core fans to make this a success so hopefully this flops hard at the £70 asking price.

It’s not even confirmed, but it won’t flop.

Why on earth does the age of the hardware matter when it comes to pricing?

No matter what resolution it is or how many frames per second it runs at, if it's even close to as good as BotW then it's worth £70 just as much as any game on any platform and way more than most.

Nobody thinks it's OK - but reasonable people think it's an issue across all platforms. Pulling the 'it's a Switch game' and '6yr old hardware' stuff just makes you look like a bellend. Especially pulling it on TOTK which is likely to be, and you can quote me on this, half decent.

I don't think we'll see any new games announced for that service until they have released everything they've already announced which could take months for them to work through at the rate they are going.
