Winning Eleven 7 International

Well, I've done a search, but it didn't bring anything up.

So, WE7 International... anyone have this game yet?

I will have soon enough - hopefully sometime next week - so if this thread drops, I'll raise it from the dead with some opinions.

For now, other people's opinions:

"Views on WE International JAP (after 6 Human vs Human games)

GRAPHICS - From minute 1 you notice it. They are sharper and brighter, edited kits will "shine" in this version as well as detailed edited appearances, stadiums, etc. In previous WE7 I wondered what was wrong since I wasn't getting as good image quality as in WE6 FE. Now we're back to that level or betther, wich clear bright colours, contours and details.

GAMEPLAY OVERALL - Simply superb. I cannot hide the disappointment I felt in the previous WE7, with some serious problems like keepers, shooting, headers, crosses, defending headers, etc... Well it was good but.. some major issues were there.

After only 6 games one can say this WE International is the one that really feels like the next natural evolution since WE 6 FE. Back on track. Now the detail.

SHOOTING - Much better. Before you just felt there was no reason to shoot "from there", cause although in real life goals also came "from there" you simply knew it would become a crappy shot.

Now I see myself picking a nice player, clear with no pressure and being able to shoot a marvelous satisfying out-of-box shot with all intention. Nice, fast and accurate. What an amusement.

CROSSING - Finally crossing. real crossing. From outside the box, inbox, midfield, fast crossing with speed and danger, which can as easely be cleared as they can also easely be headed in, in marvelous looking game situations. No more "slow mortar" crossing.

HEADERS - Variety and quality. Back to the possibility of heading nice and strong, not the same crappy, streched back header, much more variation in style and strenght. In combination with crossing delivers new possibilities to crossing players.

Defensive headers!! finally the bug is gone.

PASSING - As ppl have said speeder (in a realistic way) and more intentional. Seems like the through pass, in specific moments will become more useful. that's very good. Nevertheless I think the "speed" we are talking about as much more to do with "control" (read below).

CONTROL - That's a big breakthrough. Remember changing sides with a long cross or passing to a striker on the other side and prefering to control the ball back to feet and that taking AGES even with good controlling players? Not anymore. Nice fast controlling players seem to control the ball much quicker, opening new realistic situations. I saw inzaghi receiving one of these with one foot and quckly shooting with the other, what a must. Faster and sharper control surely influences the fluidity and speed everyone is talking about because I don't really feel the game is more fast (running is the same fortunately), it's the ball control in certain situations that is more realistically fast, which changes the game I think.

KEEPERS - I din't saw as many rebounds as previously. Keepers seem more alert and less prone do to bloopers or simply put the ball in the strikers foot. Nevertheless be cautious with hand passing! A friend of mine who used to make dangerous long hand passes with the keeper without even seeing the receiver offered me 3,4 goals like that, with strikers suprising between the keeper and the defender! Watch out when putting the ball back in, specially against humans, play safe like.. in real soccer .

CORNERS - Ended are the days of the "unstopable curling ball that will pass defenders with no chance and land right on the entering striker". Corners are as dangerous as they should: in 10 corners I saw one goal."

Looking forward to this latest version, as always!

Been playing it for a few days now. It's as impressive as we've come to expect from the WE games.

The biggest problem with WE7 was how 'automatic' the players reactions were, leaving the player with less to do. WE7I has toned that down a bit, but I still don't feel that I have the same degree of control as 6FE.

But on the other hand, it has stacks of other little improvements over 6FE.

Rough with the smooth.

WE7 International is to PES3 what WE6:FE was to PES2 (but hopefully an improvement!).

There is a version out in the US called WE7 International, but it's PES3.

[pedantic]Actually its called "World Soccer Winning Eleven 7 International" in the USA. Quite a mouthful

I find it much better than WE7 but I do miss wonderful gamecube pad controll of WE6FE

It is nice to see more teams, and english language menu. But they still screw up the kits and name ie Japanese text and wrong kit for Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Spain.

There is more La Liga team which make me happy ie Real Betis, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad. But I want to see Sevilla, Villareal, Real Mallorca, Racing Satanders and other missing La Liga teams and Wolves, Small Heath Alliance, Southampton, etc in Premier League.

I like the game but hate Dual Shock pad. It is very difficult to showboat with the poor joypad.

I love new goalkeeper kit editing

The game is much better than WE7 for me.

One thing amazed me there is no J-League teams. I would thought the native would like to play Grampus Eight V Real Madrid or whatever.

You are correct it is Birmingham City. I have improved Winning Eleven a lot today and manage to go on a 14 games run with only one defeat. I think the game is much better than WE7. :)

Now I got to find a proper option files to fix all names, clubs and kits properly then I can replace PES United and other crap teams with someone like Real Mallorca, Athletic Bilbao and Wolves.

All PS2, only WE6:FE came out on the Gamecube.

WE is the great Japanese footie game that we love.

PES is the European version of WE. It has a number of alterations and is generally considered to be inferior to the Japanese versions.

Complicating matters: The Japanese version of WE7:I shouldn't be confused with the American version of WE7:I. The American game is near identical to Europe's PES3.

ISS is a different game entirely, but also comes from within Konami. We won't be seeing any more ISS games now.

Thanks for that. I always assumed that the first ISS on the SNES was the European version of Perfect Eleven, and that Perfect Eleven was the precursor to Winning Eleven. Is this wrong?

I wasn't aware that WE was considered better than PES. So this means the GC has the best footy game available?

WE7 International is to PES3 what WE6:FE was to PES2 (but hopefully an improvement!).

are you suggesting WE6FE wasn't a massive improvement over PES2? :)

Can someone clear up once and for all the difference between PES, ISS and WE. And what format they are on.

the first WE games were called ISS Pro and suchlike in Europe, even though they weren't ISS games - this is where the confusion lies.

WE series = ISS Pro/PES PSone games --> PES3

ISS series = ISS on the SNES --> ISS on N64 --> crap new multiformat ISS2/3 games

So this means the GC has the best footy game available?

WE7I would have to be A LOT better than the awful WE7 for it to be anywhere close to GC WE6FE which, thanks to *analog control*, is easily the best WE game presently.

THe handball has been removed but the cheating is worse than ever. The default ML team are just soooo weak. They trip over everything whilst the CPU powers through half your team. You get booked for shoulder to shoulder challenges, and some good tackles still get penalised.

Main improvement is the passing, but they've sacrificed an awful lot of speed from a player carrying the ball. It does make the whole thing feel more realistic, with good possession play rewarded. You really have to sniff out those openings now. Crossing is perhaps a little too deadly, with everyone bending it like Beckham. Shooting is a little harder, but shots dip a lot more and you can really crack an edge of the box volley if you get it right.

This is not like WE6FE where they basically tweaked everything about WE6 and PES2 to perfection. This is a step forward towards a more realistic game, but the balance is not quite right, especially if you love dribbling. Roll on WE8 then.

So are we going to see this WE7:International version in the UK as PES4?

Indeed are we going to get any more PES games on the PS2?

I have WE6:FE on the GC, and whilst it is awesome, I prefer playing PES3 on the PES jusy cos I hate all the Japanesse menus, which makes Master League play a tad difficult.

Riiight. No wonder I'm confused. So what was Perfect Eleven on the SNES?

Is there any chance of Gamecube WE6FE coming out over here? If not, why not? Is it something to do with Sony exclusivity or just because Konami can't be arsed?

Siread - I know you post on some PES forum, where they do a lot of patching and stuff. I've lost the link however, whats the URL again? :)

Edit: On topic - Well it sounds great. Glad the corssing has had a big improvement, I've been whining about that for years. Just hope it's not too good.

Also happy to hear about improved passing and control. Finally I can knock it about the field like I'm in training ;) I hated knocking some lovely passes about to see my player stumble and let it go for a throw.
